Vanderbilt Class of 2023 EDI Discussion Thread

Hopefully @greeny8 can respond and give more information on if the package they were talking about in her posts was from Vanderbilt. I have the same exact thing they had. Until then, take it all with a grain of salt.

@natielisabethh I was thinking they would be out the 13th around that time because the past years they have come out on that Thursday closest to the 15th.

Anyone know if/when Vandy announces the date they release decisions?

As a current student accepted last year, I can certifiably say that the whole “package” thing is baloney! Don’t believe it! There is no way to know whether you got in until you check your decision portal-- I didn’t get my letter until almost a week later.

I’ve looked at the last 5 years of announcements from Vandy’s blog and here is what I found: they announced the decision day only one day prior to when it is. It appears in their blog and it also seems to indicate that an email goes out to all ED folks to tell the when it will be available (so check your spam). The last 2 years, the announcement has been on a Thursday, closest to the 15th, however, the date has been as early as the 11th and as late as the 15th, with one year being on a Saturday and another on a Friday. My guess is that they may shoot for Thursday, but it likely depends up whether they are truly ready or not. Their website gives them a lot of play, as it states “mid-December.” If we will find out by Thursday, there will be an announcement by Wednesday, as that is the only “trend” that actually happened each year.

im so scared lol

Anyone here have an interview? If so, how’d it go? Do you think it helped your admissions at all?

If anyone did not and wants to know my experience: I had an interview a couple weeks ago and it went great! Lasted an hour and a half and had a great time. Very casual, held at a local coffee shop.

If any current students who did or did not have an interview could comment on how they think it played into their application that would be great!!

I applied ED 1! I sent my application on 10/30, but my counselor couldn’t figure out how to do his part of the ED agreement, so my application wasn’t labeled completed until 12/05; I emailed my counselor, although, and she said it was fine. I’m expecting a denial, but my financial aid stuff randomly popped up on my portal yesterday (I don’t know what that means, although).

My stats are: 32 ACT (34 Eng, 33 Reading, 32 Science, 30 Math)
4.472 W GPA
3.93 UW GPA
Rank: 2/331 (biggest strength)

Race: Mixed African-American/White
OOS from northern Ohio

Major: Neuroscience

EC: VP of NHS for two years, student council, leo’s club, volunteer for 3 hours a week at a hospital, varsity track and football, volunteer as an altar server + at the local food bank, etc…

Other schools: My top (if rejected) is the University of Michigan; I love it there a lot. I applied to other schools like Emory (went to their CORE program), Tulane, Case Western, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, and UNC Chapel Hill.

I feel like I will be extremely happy if I end up at Vandy or UMich, but a denial wouldn’t make me feel good lol.

Hope the best for all of you!

@mreed1 the timetable of your application does not matter if your application reads as complete on your my vu app portal. Personally my application is read as completed 11/03, but I know that hasn’t been an issue because I applied to the Blair School and I’ve passed certain rounds of admissions. So you should be fine. Also, it seems like most people have the financial aid thing up now. All in all I wouldn’t look into various signs as to your decision - you’re as strong as the rest and it would be a waste of your time to worry about these things. Good luck

Thank you!

Curious @annabel101 when you got your acceptance, was it an email inside the portal that you had to open, or was it immediately viewable when you logged in?

Does Vanderbilt admit based on majors? I know they admit students based on which of the schools they apply to, but is there any chance what major you choose weighs in on your chance of admission?

@maxh123 they only admit Peabody applicants based on major.

is it super hard to get into HOD?

@locococomama I don’t think I got an email on the actual decision day, but the decision was immediately viewable when I logged into my portal. It says your name in big letters on a dark background, you won’t miss it

@annabel101 so they email you the day before to let you know when they will be out?

I am so nerve-wracking at this stage because I haven’t heard any information from vandy since I submitted my application. Dunno if it’s a good news or bad news.

I applied for the interview but no one contacted me. I’m feeling no good right now.

I also applied for an interview and wasn’t contacted; I don’t think it’s anything to worry about! It probably just means no alumni are super close to you in your area.

Did anyone else get the email reminder from Vandy last week about submitting financial aid forms?

@hiyageca I did too! I didn’t submit the CSS so they emailed me to do that. Do you the fact that they wanted those forms means anything about decisions?
