@em2106 And yet there are those with ACT scores of 31 & 32, along side very good (not stellar), but very good GPA’s. Apparently, they take a comprehensive view of applications and give just as much weight to the essay, demonstrated interest and LOR’s.
It’s really difficult to peg exactly what they look for so I mean I’m just gonna keep an open mind and hope for the best because some people have everything and get rejected and some have lesser scores GPA and ECs and get accepted
@em2106 @jayusa8 In the first rejection, they prob saw something in the essay or on social media they just didn’t like. Maybe he had cheated or had been suspended for something at his high school… There is def a reason. It’s not like they just make decisions at total random.
I completely agree with you guys! If truly all they cared about were GPA and test scores, those with high scores wouldn’t have gotten rejected, and those with low(er) scores wouldn’t have gotten accepted. I think essays, ECs and LORs really do make a difference, so there’s hope for everyone!! No matter what, we are all going to end up at amazing schools, receive great educations, and have an awesome 4 years
if i get bleach on my t shirt
Decisions come out on Wednesday according to the financial aid office lady
@sdgirl9917 Wow, what rocking attitude you have…thanks for keeping up our spirits!
I know I act a fool but I promise you i;m going back to school
What are you’re guys #2 and #3 after vandy
exactly. I don’t mean to say this is what the standards are because each applicant is completely different and we don’t even have the complete picture. I just wanted to take the information that was available from last year’s discussion and just organize it so it could be viewed easily. (and give myself something to do)
@squarerootof42 is that confirmed
After Vandy Plan II at the University of Texas and the Tulane honors school @kanyesprodigy
REMEMBER. If you are denied, be sad because you really wanted to go here, but keep an open mind because there is somewhere better for you. If accepted, be happy and take advantage of every opportunity Vanderbilt and the city of Nashville will offer. Been telling myself this ever since November 1st but I am still anxious as could be. Crazy to think that about 1/3 of us ED applicants will know where we will be for our first four years of adulthood…
If I don’t get into Vandy then UT Austin Plan 2 or wake forest @kanyesprodigy
@GlennDJ very true! If it doesn’t work it it’s for a reason! Also my 2nd and 3rd choices are Duke and Georgia Tech. I’ve actually only recently heard about UT Austin I haven’t been really looking at schools in Texas can anyone give me info on it?
Long time reader first time commenter here! I’m just as stressed as you guys! Anonymous624 brought up a good point, does vandy search for social media of applicants? I’m not worried, just curious.
Oh I have a question regarding the Corps Interview… I had one of my music instructors write a rec for me, and I told late september, invited him to the page on common app and everything. Reminded him all through October, then on Oct. 31st he tells me he can’t do it. I ask another instructor to write one for me, she says yes, gets it done morning of November 1st, and I turn in my application around 1pm. I get the email for the MyAppVu, and see that there are no Alumni in my area to do an interview with… Could this be because they were all already booked? If I turned in my application earlier is it possible I could have gotten an interview? I live in NE Ohio.
If I don’t get into Vandy, I really like USC, UVA, and Notre Dame, but I’m not sure in which order!! I really love USC, but I’m from San Diego and I’d prefer to go out-of-state… USC is only a two hour drive from house, which is fine, but I really want to try out a new part of the country
I doubt it is because of a late submission, there are probably just not any interviewers in your area! I wouldn’t stress about it. @GlennDJ
I am crossing my fingers for wednesday. we should get an email tomorrow, if not tonight
