@ryeguy2016 I meant that it’s substantially higher compared to RD. ED I is a little higher than EDII but not substantially. However, there is a smaller pool of applicants for ED2.
Fellow applicant here. My understanding is that EdII and rd are approximately the same. However, I have a theory that since many ED2 applicants are rejected/deferred ED1 applicants from other schools, the overall quality of the applicant pool is slightly worse than rd. Just a thought
@ImporTan if that is the case then my admissions rep advised me to apply under the wrong decision. I was told that ED II would benefit me because I would have the advantage of sending my first semester grades and another ACT test date to send.
@sgallagher23 I want to believe that that’s true. The reality is that nobody knows for sure.
-My admissions Officer told me I wasn’t at a disadvantage applying ED2, though I didn’t specifically ask about acceptance rates
-People seem to get conflicting information from their admissions officers. Some were told information like me, while others were apparently told Ed2 is similar or equal to rd.
-When e-mailed, admissions responds by saying that they only release statistics for combined ED pools. This makes me wonder why. Surely Vandy would not be “ashamed” to admit that ED2 was only a little lower than ED1. But they may be more inclined to hide a great difference in acceptance rates.
-Only 7/21 2019 ED2 thread got accepted, while a good majority of the ED1 was accepted (people are more likely to report being accepted than rejected of course). Extremely small sample sizes though.
I visited Vanderbilt a month ago and the admissions officer at the information session said the acceptance rates are about the same for EDI and EDII applicants. However, EDI has a slightly higher acceptance rate due to committed athletes. (The reported ED acceptance rate on the Vanderbilt website is an average of the two.) She said the main difference between EDI and EDII is that there is a smaller applicant pool in EDII. Applying EDII over RD will increase your chances of acceptance. I don’t know by how much, but it will help.
Do I have a good chance of getting accepted? I applied ed2 and for the CV scholarship.

How long did it take y’all to get an email about myappVU?
@sgallagher23 Around a week
@anxiousenior1 thanks
it says on the website that the decision release date is feb 15th, but it also said that ed1 decision release was december 15th and it actually came out on the 11th…does anyone know if that means if the decision release date will be the friday before feb 15th?
@universitygirl4 Last year, Vanderbilt’s EDII decisions came out on January 30th. So, I’m assuming they’ll release them early again this year, unless they receive a significantly greater number of applications. But from what I’m hearing, EDII is their smallest applicant pool-- so I’d plan on finding out before February 15th.
I applied ED1 and was accepted with the same test scores. I had a 34 and around a 2150, so I just decided to send me ACT. Hope that helps!
@DelbyGWave85 do you know of anyone that got in with a 31 ACT?
@sgallagher23 unfortunately, the two other kids from my school who applied got a 31 and were not accepted. I do not know what their ECs and stuff were so you still have a chance.
If it helps anybody, I was admitted to engineering ED1 which is a less competitive pool
