Vanderbilt Fall 2020 Transfer Thread

Agreed - waiting until after the nat’l decision day for 1st years allows them to see whether their matriculation numbers were what they expected or not. If they have a lot of spots, that might open up more spaces from the waitlist for 1st years or more spaces for us.
Also, I hope that we get notified before waitlisted people. That’d be unkind if they did since they’ve already gotten their initial decision.

Apparently, vanderbilt starts getting people off wl. I hope we can get our decision soon as well!

^^ yes! and according to the WL thread, applicants accepted off the waitlist have one day to respond to their offer and 3 days to make a deposit. That’s a pretty quick turnaround, so hopefully we won’t be left waiting for too long!

nothing

Hey everyone! I know im super late to the game but Ive been watching this thread for a while and just now decided to join. I want to go to Vanderbilt so so bad but Im worried about my chances due to a lower-than-average gpa (due to health reasons my first semester- the following semesters I pulled it up to one thats more in their range). I explained this in my application but im still super nervous

Has anyone that applied to transfer to Vandy received a decision? I don’t think so but wanted to confirm.

Apparently there are waves for the waitlist and the first wave was yesterday. Last years waitlist saw a weeks difference between waves. But transfer decisions has already been through at least one wave before waitlist acceptances started. Not sure why they are prioritizing waitlist over transfer this year as this has never been the case for vandy.

I don’t think the first wave was yesterday. Nobody has gotten the transfer decision so far, at least to my knowledge. It’s probably going to be the coming week or the one after.

If there was a wave of transfer decisions it wasn’t reported here. Don’t think its happened yet.

I was referring to the waitlist wave for non transfer students out of high school as @niniwah @lhammonx were discussing

i applied to 7 schools and haven’t heard back from any of them
transfer apps be wildin

For those who you know who want to take a gap semester or year, are they assuming that next Fall will be a continuation of online?

@yankeefan20 I think a lot of kids if it is online or in-person. Some people won’t feel safe coming back to school yet, and others are immunocompromised and won’t be able to

RIP. Vandy took too long. I just committed somewhere else. Good Luck everyone!

I’m risking losing a great backup if Vandy doesn’t pull through this week… Honestly not sure whether to wait or just go to the other school…

@ketchup23 could you elaborate? Like are you not committing elsewhere in the hopes that a highly selective school will say yes or are you at risk of losing your spot at a great school thats already accepted you? If all you stand to lose is a deposit then I’d say wait and see, unless the deposit is a substantial amount you can’t afford to forfeit. But if you may lose a spot at the great school I wouldn’t chance it.

@SatanFlower69 the deposit at this other really good school is too substantial to put down and then lose if I get into BC or Vandy. So I haven’t put down anything yet. If I wait too long they’ll fill my spot w someone else. Again it’s a great school but I’d prefer to be in Nashville or Boston over the city this other one is in

@ketchup23 I’ve read on other threads people have had success requesting an extension to make the deposit. My daughter put a deposit down at another school but it was only $150 so not a huge loss if she gets into a school she’d rather be at.

@ketchup23 understandable. If you haven’t done so already I would take the suggestion above and request an extension, keeping in mind they may decline. Whatever you decide don’t leave it to the last possible minute or deadline day. Personally, I wouldn’t pass up a guaranteed great opportunity for the possibility of a slightly greater one. Good luck!

@ChicagoMom70 @SatanFlower69 I was supposed to put down a $500 dollar deposit by May 01 and kindly asked for an extension. The extension was granted for two weeks, however, if they reach their target number of students before the 15th and I have not yet put down a deposit I will lose my spot. It’s a really tough decision…
