I am a Vandy freshman who just finished my first semester at Vanderbilt. I am pre-med who plans on majoring in English. I was wondering what my chances are for transfering to Dartmouth for my sophomore year.

I freely admit that I don’t know what they look for in transfer students, but on HS stats & ECs alone you look like someone who would have had a decent shot, although not a wildly strong one.

I don’t know what “18 hours” means in terms of course load. I never went to a school that counted credits or hours: a course was a course, and one needed at least 32 to graduate. I’m assuming that 3.55 is a B+?

I’ve always assumed–perhaps incorrectly–that having a really good reason to want to transfer to a particular school is key.

Transferring into an Ivy without a hook generally requires a ~3.8 college gpa to be competitive. I doubt if a 3.5 would be competitive for Cornell-CAS, which is transfer friendlier than D. You might have a good shot at Cornell-CALS, tho.

^^^^ hahaha, BFK complains about the alcohol consumption at Dartmouth, wait until he sees the drunken southern aristocrats ******bags at Vandy, it will def. set things in perspective for him. hahahaha
