Vanderbilt Transfer Thread [Fall 2018]

has anyone received a decision?

Does anyone know the date of first decisions?

It seems like even the admissions employees don’t know, as they keep giving different answers. It’s truly anybody’s guess.

Guys, they have always said that the transfer admissions decisions are released on a rolling basis. Why are any of you expecting there to be a set date? Just be patient.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to want to know when I’m getting major news, especially when a lot of other schools do it. Furthermore, this conflicting information coming out of their office is somewhat unprofessional, to be honest. Either say a date or don’t, but stick with it.

also, @Natedagrate13 in the past they’ve released multiple decisions in waves so we’re just curious to know when we’re hearing about which college we’re attending in a couple of months. Since we’re transfers we’re obviously worried about which institution we will be attending and have to let them know pretty soon. I think it’s 100% reasonable to be a little anxious and we’re not “impatient” for asking our peers what they think about the decision date.

I know you’re all worried about which college you’re attending next year, as am I. However, there really isn’t any good reason for us to be calling the office every day expecting a definite answer. On their website, they have explicitly expressed that there is no set date for decisions, and the decisions will be rolled out when they are ready. I’m not trying to attack all of you for being impatient, it just comes off as unprofessional and unappreciative.

And yes, since this is major news it would be convinient to know when we would be hearing back. However, it does not always work like this in the real world.

@Natedagrate13 Hmmm well they’re employed to answer any questions we have and someone has to call so we can update others in this thread. I guess, we could be like you and just check the thread and scold those who make a ten second phone call to try and alleviate our own personal stress. But then again, how is that helping anyone? good luck on your admissions though

Has calling them really fixed anything? We all seem even more confused now then we were before. Instead of dwelling on dates and such, maybe try to relieve stress through other activities like sports or something. CollegeConfidential has quite the reputation of being a stressful environment, anyways. Like I said before, I am not trying to attack any of you, I am just giving my 2 cents.

As my post history indicates, I have been pretty invested in this thread. I genuinely have no ill will towards any of you, I am just trying to convice you all to dwell on more productive things. Good luck to you all, hopefully we will all see eachother on campus soon

Ahh, history repeats itself :)) Flashbacks from last year’s threads.

Anybody want to play the “Let’s Compare” game? UNC Chapel Hill vs. Vanderbilt

@AGoodFloridian exactly my thoughts haha. Feel like a seasoned vet of the transfer cycle watching the new guys freak out lol.

I agree with being a stressful process, but honestly knowing the date wouldn’t be bad
On another note, what do you guys think about school rigor and how it plays into admissions? Does the school you’re coming from influence admissions decisions a lot? I personally think it does, but with a lot of people applying from CCs and getting accepted I would be interested in hearing your 2 cents

ACCEPTED!!! I just got back from work and checked my portal! Can’t wait to see you all on campus soon! ANCHOR DOWN!!!

Congrats! They didn’t send you an email?

anybody else get a decision? I haven’t heard anything :slightly_frowning_face: probably means rejection

I just received a reply from my admissions counselor that all my materials were in and I was ready for review. I’m hoping that this means I should get my decision next week

I guess they weren’t kidding when they said they said decisions were being released individually. Sorry for doubting them.

@Stewartson Did they send you an email before you checked or did you just check randomly?

Really strange that no one else except @Stewartson has heard back yet
