Hey fellow applicants!! has anyone got an interview? i submitted my corps thingie last week but haven’t gotten any updates on it. maybe its too late or something
@goldilocks2001 I haven’t got one yet! Don’t know when they are gonna give them. What school within are you applying to?
@all4lax colleges of arts and sciences! medicine, health, and society major. i emailed my admissions counselor about it and a few other things but she hasn’t replied ahhah. what school are you applying to?
I think arts and sciences too!! what are your stats? @goldilocks2001
Does ED II chances of getting in is higher than RD?
They could be higher but not guaranteed. ED II pool could be more qualified applicants, thus more competitive. @bigdad930
So they can only accept a certain amount of people from Early Decisions and Regular?
My daughter is applying Vanderbilt ED2. Her school senior yr first semester final grade is not available until the end of January. Is this meant Vanderbilt ED2 will not able to see her senior grade because decision is made around 2/15? She is doing a lot rigorous classes in her senior year.
@bigdad930 I would say email or call the admission office asap and see what they say
I am thinking of applying ED2 to Vanderbilt. however, I have a couple of concerns. First, I nervous about being admitted to one school as I have an interest in both neuroscience and computer science and am not sure which school I want to be considered for. In addition, I have heard negative things about the social life at Vandy. Does anyone have any advice?
@pancakes142 I am planning on applying EDII to Vandy after being deferred from Penn as well!
Did anyone submit an application for Ed 2?
Anyone send in an application for Ed 2?
me!!
@collegeistress what school within did you apply to?
Is there a large difference between the EDII acceptance rate and the regular decision acceptance rate?
Hey guys! Anyone know how to get an interview?
Hey y’all I just got accepted ED I to Vanderbilt and I might be able to share some insights. After applying, I was suuuuuuper nervous and constantly checking college confidential for stats to compare myself to, so I should contribute now.
First of all, interviews. I contacted my admissions officer about the CORPS interview because I said I was interested in an interview but never heard back. My AO said you only get an interview if there is an alumnus in your area who isn’t fully booked for interviews yet. It’s up to the alumnus how many interviews they’re willing to do. The alumnus for your area (if there is one) will be told of your interest and may choose to contact you to schedule an interview. If this doesn’t happen and you get no email or anything regarding an interview, then there is no available interviewer in your area. This won’t reflect negatively on your application at all, and my AO made sure to emphasize that!!! I believe the stats say only about 20% of applicants get interviewed.
Second of all, social life. If you’re accepted, you gain access to Vandy’s Class of 2023 Facebook group, where everyone shares their interests, home town, major, etc. When I joined there was a link to a group chat not monitored by Vandy Admissions, where kids were talking about how excited they were to rush frats/sororities, try more drugs (specifically cocaine), and get plastered at weekend parties. At first this terrified me because I am not at all interested in that type of fun, but my parents and AO were helpful in calming me down. In reality, about 50% of Vanderbilt undergrads are involved in Greek life. Yes, there will be parties if those are your thing, but if they aren’t, you’ll find a friend group anyway. Membership in Greek life (according to my mom’s research) costs $1000 a semester, so the richer kids tend to be the ones in Greek life and big parties. (And no, not everyone in Greek life does drugs and parties crazily, nor do all non-Greek-lifers live completely sober.) Nashville is a great city and if you aren’t interested in parties you’ll still have just as much fun (as just as many friends) as if you do party. Hopefully that answers the social life dilemma.
Third, SAT subject tests. Sorry it’s a little too late for this info to be useful since the deadline was yesterday, I believe, but here goes in case y’all still want to know. I was told by an admissions officer during a visit to the campus that subject tests shouldn’t be submitted if they are below the national top 10% for the specific test. If you sent it, they’ll look at it, good or bad.
Lastly, my stats. SAT 1560. ACT 34 (both SAT and ACT were sent by mistake). GPA 4.0 (unweighted) or 4.78 (weighted out of 5.0). 5 AP classes in school, teaching AP gov to myself because it wouldn’t fit into my schedule. School doesn’t rank. Awards: National Merit Commendation, 8 school honors for academic excellence, math excellence award from a state university calculus competition, Yale Book Award. Extracurriculars: general editor of school news (junior, senior), National Honor Society (sophomore, junior, senior), Creative Writing Club (junior, senior), Amnesty International (sophomore, junior year became president), Drama Club (all 4 years, Vice President senior year), knitting hats for homeless drives (about a dozen hats per year), baking cupcakes to pass out to kids around school who are looking lonely (about 4 dozen per month, junior and senior year, wrote my extracurricular activity short answer about this), private vocals student, community theatre productions, founded schoolwide fiction publication for creative writing encouragement. Special conditions: frequent traveler for service trips (wrote my essay about a trip to Tanzania), two-time award winning short fiction author, self-published author of five-star book currently on Amazon and at Barnes and Noble. Other info: white, female, from one of the best public high schools in MA.
Sorry this has been such a long post, I tried to hit all the questions comprehensively. Also please remember I’m not a Vandy expert, just an admitted student. Don’t spend too much time comparing yourself with everyone you find has been admitted or has applied. Schools as tough as Vandy are a shot in the dark as to who gets admitted, so you never know who’ll get in!!! Feel free to ask for clarification on any of my stats.
@KidInAVandyShop congrats. you will love Vanderbilt. To those reading, do not get scared off by any thoughts of a party school or Greek life. There is SOOO much to do at Vandy and I truly believe everyone can find their friends and niche! The only thing I wanted to comment on was the subject test comment made above. Please just note that a 800 on Math Level 2 is the 80% percentile. According to what @KidInAVandyShop said or heard, one would not send that in. YES send in an 800. Anything above a 750 is probably excellent for Vandy!
Hey can someone tell me. Basically all of my application materials for ED2 were complete by the deadline BUT I sent my sat scores two days after the deadline since I didn’t even realise Vanderbilt required official scores. Will they put me in RD? Or cancel my application ??
