Good luck to everyone!
I go to a large public school and I know multiple people in my grade who applied to vandy RD. Does anyone know if EDII applications are completely sorted before the admissions officers begin judging RD applicants? Or will they take my classmates into consideration (will the yield of RD applicants from my school affect my decision at all)?
@florida2001 Your guess is as good as mine honestly, as I don’t have any inside info on their decision process. However, I believe that even if they have looked at other applicants from your school (which I kind of doubt), it shouldn’t impact their decision /that/ much. I know my school which usually has about 400-500 students in each graduating class has admitted up to 5 students per class. I know there is a big theory about top tier colleges only taking one or two applicants from a school each year but I don’t think Vandy is always that harsh. Wishing you the best this Friday!
@Siena19 thank you!
@florida2001 of course! I know how stressful this is haha but at least we’ll all know soon.
Good luck everyone! Fingers crossed!
im so nervous !! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE !!!
hey guys! i was wondering how much emphasis vandy puts on grades/gpa/test scores. I was looking at previous vandy ed2 threads and it looked like ppl with low scores or gpa were all denied with a few exceptions. im from va (asian female) and i have 4.09 W gpa but i have really good extracurriculars and hooks. do i have a chance? im so worried
@EssayErase probably depends on the difficulty and availability of courses at your school that your counselor disclosed in his or her report
Ok sorry for all the questions but does anyone know how much rank is taken into consideration? I have a 4.4 gpa and am an IB diploma candidate but I’m not in the top 10%
@florida2001 I’m guessing they look at gpa more than class rank? Because from my understanding a lot of schools don’t rank and the difficulty of the curriculum also makes it harder to take rank into consideration.
@florida2001 Vanderbilt has risen in the last 20 years. My parents said it was a Top 25 school years ago, and then became a Top 20, then Top 15. From what my HS counselor has said, Vandy puts more weight on test scores b/c that’s the easiest way to move way up in the USNWR ranking. So, another school - even an Ivy - might have slightly lower test scores, but the school might be tougher in terms of admittance.
@SlimJim005 thank you that’s super helpful
@yjliu one can’t look at GPA across the board. every high school is different in what they offer in terms of classes AND how they calculate GPA. They might look at GPA in the context of others applying from the same school to get a feel where you stand, but pretty sure they are looking at your course load and what you took and what was available for you to take. Like, did you take the hardest classes you could. and then looking at those grades.
I missed an interviewer’s email as it went straight to my spam. Will this have any bearing on my admissions decision, or will it be looked over?
@pbh2023 don’t worry about it, they probably won’t care. They understand things like this happen or life comes up and people aren’t able to interview. The only difference in your application will be that they don’t have a letter from your interviewer, but it won’t be missed and interviews don’t usually have a big impact on admissions decisions.
I can’t wait any longer I just want to know ?
Big mood @GStee8
@bigchungus785 Do you think you have any chance lol
@NewPoster123 Yeah I def agree with you I was just trying to say that it all depends:)
