Vanderbilt University Fall 2021 Transfer Thread

Only 3.9? Come on haha. Don’t worry. Your GPA is perfect and gpa is not the only thing they see. Other things factor in as well and it also depends on how much space each school has. Cornell doesnt offer a lot of spots and they get a lot of applications for transfers.

Also cornell offers a lot of spots to TOs, so that’s why it seems like they take a lot

thank you!! yeah it just worries me because some people say that a 3.9 in a CC isn’t the same as a 3.9 in a 4 year college. but yeah! cornell was swamped this year with applications from what i heard from an AO, so we’ll see how vanderbilt goes!!

Hi there! Which college of cornell did u apply to?

Your college GPA is fine! Are you applying as a rising sophomore or junior? That might have some effect because the less college info you have the more your HS stuff counts. But in the end it really is a bit of a lottery. So hang in there!

No no. Do not worry about that at all. Universities don’t think like that at all. If you are a good student and u meet the requirements, you are in the same pool as everyone else

It happens. But the fact that you applied to these schools after already going through the application process shows how talented and able you are. Don’t worry, you will end up in a better place

Then you’re in the game for sure!

Thats better actually because they will look more at your college stats considering you are far along the college journey

Idk if anyone is still interested in chancing people and all lol but here’s my stuff:

Boston College sophomore with 60 credits after this semester, so transferring in as a rising junior

College GPA: 3.44, 2.8 first semester with 3.73 since and looking to be mid 3s this semester too

High school GPA: 4.25/3.4 I think?

Letters of Rec: got 3 in, 2 are from BC professors and one is my old boss where I was a supervisorish last summer and I got to read one I’d say it’s like a 6-7/10

ECs: I have about 14 on there, 9 in college years and they’re pretty solid I’d say like a 7-8/10

Didn’t submit test scores

Essays: Had people read and correct them, very personal to me and pretty specific to Vanderbilt, I also explained my first semester GPA a bit

As long as you explained your first semester grades you seem like a great candidate! Wjat’s your major?

I’m a sociology major, kinda nervous cuz I feel like my GPA is too low like they might overlook me even if I explain it decently just because of the 3.44 u know?

Well I think Vanderbilt cares a lot about fit, and you said you tailored your essays to what they were looking for! And also BC is a competitive school so I’m sure that’ll be taken into account as well!

Thanks I hope so, I mean it was mostly about me and all but the last like paragraph or two was about how Vanderbilt and it’s program and classes will fit best for me
