I was accepted to both, money's not an issue. I'm coming in as a sophomore transfer. I'm doing probably biology major of some sort maybe biochem or neuroscience if they're offered. I'm pre-med so I'll want stuff like community service opportunities and research probably almost immediattely since im already second-year. I dont know if anyone can help me with any pros and cons. But if anyone's visited either one(I haven't yet) please I'd love any input. I also dont know which school'd look better in grad school apps, I mean I think itd be easier to get a higher GPA at UNC but I could probably master both. Anyone know about campus life, social life etc. How hard academics are? Any input at all on either of the 2 schools is welcome.

You have to visit them. Period. You'll know after that.

Yea, I'll probably have done that by the end of the month which will be the deciding factor. I'd still like to hear any comments from anyone who has the slightest basis for comparison or can give student insight to one of the two.

Chapel Hill is a more research orientated school. And yes--I have heard that Chapel Hill's workload isn't extremely hard-compared to say Wake Forests.

what about chapel Hill's workload compared to Vanderbilt's?

I've heard chapel hill is relatively easy--remember there is a huge difference between the top 25% of the kids and the bottom 25%, Roughly 1200~ SAT's vs. 1400 SAT's, and it is pretty easy to get into in NC.

Both my husband and iattended Chapel Hill and it's not that easy to get into. Even within the state only the top students in the state get in--out of state it's even harder. Vanderbilt maybe more student friendly. They are really trying to work their way up the rankings and want to keep their students and brag about how they got into HPY law or med schools.

Just curious do you have any basis for that quote?

And since you went there, pros and cons for UNC if you can think of any significant ones off the top of your head or really any at all?
