Hi, I’m doing the one tonight! I’ll let you know!
My D got off the waitlist for Vanderbilt last night. She accepted a spot in the Blair School of music immediately! Good luck to everyone!!
Congratulations!!! Your family must be over the moon!!! Did they call or email?
Thank you so much! We are thrilled for her. The Dean emailed to tell her to check her portal. Vanderbilt is only 3 hours away from home so we can easily drive to all her recitals, concerts, etc. She decline all her other offers at other schools immediately so other students could get their good news. It’s like a giant domino game!
@FiddlersMama …Congratulations!!!
Got it.
Congratulations!!!
Had she sent a LOCI or updates to her AO?
I believe she sent the LOCI attached to the email to her AO.
Congratulations FiddlersMama!
Was the Vanderbilt a zoom where they can see you?
My daughter is joining the zoom call tonight too. What was it like in the previous 2 sessions?
It was a really positive message. Saying waitlist was not a nice way of rejection, but should be celebrated because it shows you are a fit for Vandy. They just need to sort some things out. They wouldn’t say how many are on the waitlist and acceptances most likely would start next week. They said they have everything they need to know about you. Meeting was about 45 mins. I don’t know much else. That’s the summary I got from my son.
Did you get an email about the waitlist zoom?
Hi folks - I’m a parent of a waitlister from 2024 for the college of arts & sciences. Shortly after May 1 Vandy sent out an email asking if waitlisters were still interested in being on the waitlist (I think they gave you like 24 hours to respond, so keep an eye on your email). You respond and then a few days later, a batch of folks got in off the waitlist. A couple weeks later the entire process began again.
I think my daughter went through like 5 rounds of this and finally got in off the waitlist in July I think - it was crazy late. (I think this was unique to covid and not typical). If you look at the Vandy common data set, they tend to take about 200 students/10% of class off the waitlist. So while not guaranteed, you have a better shot than most schools. I believe they admit off waitlist by college (so if someone from Engineering chooses to go elsewhere, they offer an engineering college waitlister that spot).
Anyway, while she was waiting, she sent in an update to her A/O re: additional things she did during her senior year that were not included in her application. She asked the A/O a question or 2 along the way as well. We were advised to tell the A/O that she would absolutely accept if offered a spot. (She chose not to do this because she really wasn’t certain).
The multiple emails from Vandy asking if she still wanted to be on the waitlist were tormenting, but in the end (very late!) she got off the waitlist, decided to attend and has loved every second (even in this crazy covid year).
Good luck to you all!
My daughter attended and enjoyed the session. It’s nice of Vanderbilt to take the time to hold these sessions.
@Wildkat2024 Thanks for sharing all that info.
295 waitlisted students joined yesterday’s session, the presenters mentioned that in the zoom
Did they mention how many kids decided to remain on the waitlist?
nope, they said they can’t tell even if they wanted to because that number constantly changes so the latest they’ll hav a definite answer is by may 3rd
Thanks so much for sharing. Out here in California, we were finally able to have sports and I get to participate in my senior basketball year, but I couldn’t get into the zoom…the times didn’t match up for me with practices and games. Hope that doesn’t count against me.
