My S got accepted. Is Vanderbilt a good place for bio major?

I’m a molecular and cellular bio major and I’ve been very pleased with the program here. My professors have all been great and lab research is tied in with the major. As a senior, I’ve also seen many of my fellow MCB students getting accepted into fantastic grad schools or med schools.

Hey guys I have a quick question.
I notice on the acceptance letter that my admission is contingent on maintaining my current level of academic achievement. Am I in trouble if I’m loosely averaging a B+ in all of my classes? Do I have anything to worry about, or am I simply being neurotic?

lighten up…and come on to Nashville in August. People actually make Bs there too :).

Just accepted to Vanderbilt early via the MOSAIC program invite!! So excited! I am thinking about getting a Greyhound bus and getting most of it reimbursed (max of 100 dollars) by Vanderbilt. I don’t know if my school will be stingy with excuses or not, however.

your school should be proud to have someone being recruited by Vandy–you did the work and their guidance office or your references or both supported your application. And you owe yourself this look at Vandy before you must make a final decision come April. I hope all students keep their references informed and express appreciation. Teachers enjoy being part of giving you choices and open doors. Give out cred where it is deserved. Rearrange your school work and come! Congrats!

I think that all your points are definitely true but I have several exams on that Thursday and Friday and I have a tournament that Saturday which I cannot miss so I do not think I will be attending unfortunately. I really wanted to come and stay at Vandy for several days because when I visited last summer through the PreVU program I had a great time and became interested in Vandy. But I think I will definitely try to attend accepted students weekend if Vandy does those. At the very least, I’ll visit every school that I am/was fortunate enough to gain admission into before making the decision. And thanks btw!!!

well, it’s great that you already know the campus from PreVU. Hope you come to Accepted Students days…our son “changed his mind” on that day and turned down another very good offer. It is hard for seniors to miss things like tournaments when teammates are counting on them. good luck
