I have a 3.4 gpa but have a 33 ACT. This is a huge disparity between my GPA and ACT and I’m worried that schools won’t take me as seriously. I want to go to a business school but schools on my list include: Wisconsin, BU, Northeastern, Bentley, UCONN, Syracuse, Richmond, UF, Miami and Tulane. I am the founder and President of the Sports statistics club in my school also. What are my chances to get into these business schools and please don’t hesitate to comment or add to the list. Like is there any chance I can even look at a school like USC,NYU or UNC or theres no shot? Thanks so much!
Perhaps if your recommendations and extracurriculars are great, you can look at NYU or UNC. Otherwise, they’re very long shots.
Your odds at Northeastern are decent, but BU is a low to mid reach. I won’t comment on the others as I don’t know enough to say anything useful, and I’d rather give no chances at all than a bad estimate.
My son got into Tulane, albeit with no scholarship offer, with a similar unweighted GPA (I’m presuming yours is unweighted) and a 31 ACT. NYU Stern is probably a big reach for you, as is UNC. What is your weighted GPA? I think most of the other colleges on your list are within reach, although I’m not sure about UF and Wisconsin for out-of-state. Many public flagship universities place primary emphasis on GPAs, but they also weight them. My son had a 3.3-3.4 unweighted, but his weighted GPA was in the 4.0-range, depending on the weighting system (it was over 4.0 for UCs, and he got into Davis and UCSD).
