I suspect the work study kid that is earning $15 an hour answering the phone actually has no idea.
That sounded like it was the case. Also sounded like I was not the first person to call.
I was that kid in 1986. The running joke was that 90% of calls could be answered with…
- Move in day for freshman is all day on…
- Yes, since 1969 Vassar has welcomed men
- Application results will be no later than…
- Yes the Hudson Valley is very cold in Dec
- Yes you need a fan as the Hudson Valley is very warm in sept.
Do they usually release the decisions in the evenings (east coast times)?
Yes, I believe most colleges traditionally release decisions in the evenings. According to previous posts, it appears that Early Decision results were released at 7 P.M. So, I’d assume they will release their Regular Decisions around then.
I think most schools - or at least the smaller, more selective ones - try to avoid the scenario where kids find out while in school. I never would have thought of that ahead of time but definitely appreciated it. Most that I’ve heard of seem to come out late afternoon or early evening (eastern time) or Saturday morning.
Good points. Let’s hope we don’t have to wait until next Saturday with Vassar!
I believe it has been confirmed that Vassar will release decisions prior to April 1st. So thankfully we will not be waiting until the weekend.
Where has that been confirmed? I just checked out their Instagram posts, and the last post they have says “Congratulations to everyone admitted” and I thought, “Oh, my kid hasn’t heard yet, I guess he didn’t get in”–then I saw the rest of the post: “through Early Decision II,” so not RD. January 28th was their last post, not even a hint of decisions to come!
According to their website, “Students applying under the Regular Decision plan will be notified of the Admission Committee decision around late March.” - https://www.vassar.edu/admissions/student-faqs. Also, previous posts have detailed calling the admissions office and being told that decisions would be released before April 1st. Hoping to get in however unlikely that may be. Good luck to your son!
Thank you for your response and your well wishes. Good luck to you, as well.
I am so looking forward to this week being over and being able to focus on the acceptances & whittling down until he has chosen the one, without holding our breath for more news (yes? no?) to come!
