@AllyssXx oh yeah that makes sense. and i’m from greecw, hbu?
@neuromaniac Fellow European here! From the Netherlands!
@AllyssXx oh that’s amazing! that’s a beautiful country
@betwixt Hello! I did not do an interview (they are non-evaluative anyway). I visited the campus during Vassar View, a fly-in program for 2 overnight stays with a fellow student. We also visited classes during that time. If your daughter is a rising senior I would look into that program
Thank you @SirSly … my daughter did visit, although was unable to stay for the weekend for classes, and there were no alum for interviews in our area, unfortunately. She did apply and is waiting, fingers crossed! I was just curious if most applicants did the stay over / classroom visit, as I feel it would be an advantage, assuming the student is an academic fit, etc.
3/28 confirmed by email
I really wish I could have done one of the interviews but there wasn’t anyone available near me oh well I just hope I get the chance to go to Vassar :">
@anicole45 interviews aren’t necessary, and their effect on your application is said to be marginal. If you’re competitive enough, you can get in without one too.
Aren’t Vassar interviews non-evaluative?
Not entirely.
If they can’t or don’t make them available to everyone, then they can’t be considered as part of the application. Interviews usually are for the benefit of the applicant not the AO.
Yeah I think it would have been cool to ask all my questions during one though! I’m just really interested in Vassar
@cashme yeah, they are. I don’t think having/not having one would have any effect on your application.
And I was curious how many people took advantage of staying overnight, sitting in on class, etc. We weren’t able to do that and it seems like a big advantage to have been able to spend that extra time on campus … plus no alumni available for interview! Love to hear who was able to get that extra time on campus …
@betwixt, these additional things like staying overnight and attending a class don’t do much, if anything at all, for your admission chances…
This might sound like a dumb question but is Vassar’s “close of business” 5pm EST? Or is it earlier/later?
@sctheatremajor Yes, it’s 5pm EST. However, for my ED decision even though they said at “close of business” the admissions results appeared as early as 4:30 for when I recalled
Does anyone know how selective Vassar is toward internationals? I’m no ORM though, but still…
@AllyssXx
I think their class is 16% International, more or less divided equally between dual and completely foreign nationalities
@namelessmonster Ah, well that is better than my odds were at Amherst. It’s something ¯_(ツ)_/¯.
