@AllyssXx Amherst is one of the most selective colleges for both national and international. Vassar less so. But still tough for sure to get in. Good luck!
@WilliamNYC You too! I actually like Vassar more. Hell, I’d have probably applied ED had I known about the college beforehand
that’s hopeful - thanks!
what type of person does vassar like? i offer a lot of diversity, am an international, and am kind of a social justice type gal. also, how important are essays to vassar? what does vassar value most in an application?
@beepboop344 I don’t think Vassar looks for a particular type of person, colleges try to build a community of different kinds of people where each person brings something important to the closely-knit community.
@namelessmonster oh okay, that’s true. i think i just heard that Vassar has a certain stereotype so I thought maybe who they admit has something common in character
Does anyone know if it is easier or harder to get into Vassar than Boston College?
I was recently admitted to BC’s CAS and I was just wondering if chances are similar to Vassar’s.
@beepboop344 What kind of stereotype?
@AllyssXx that the students there are very liberal and outspoken and all but also very smart!
I was deferred from ED1 into the regular decision pool, and I haven’t gotten an email with the confirmed date… Is that normal? Should I have gotten an email?
@gag0399 check your spam or junk folder
@beepboop344 going back to your original question, I know that essays are huge for Vassar because they try to really look at the whole applicant instead of just scores. I don’t quite want to say that it’s the biggest thing for them, but essays are definitely up there. Good luck!!!
wow, thanks so much! i think my essays are pretty good, so im hoping i have a good chance. @rococky
sorry i’m replying late-- i toured twice, once in april and then again in october. I also interviewed with an alum who lives in my town. I don’t think Vassar records demonstrated interest, but the interview is evaluated to a small extent, so it’s helpful in the application process.
does anyone know what time decisions are posted?
Hmmmpff it’s already 12:30 over here. I have to wait until 11PM because of time difference… I just want to know
They said at the close of business decisions will be released. I’m guessing 5pm EST
Did any of you submit a photo with your application? I did.
My D submitted a photo but not a headshot, more something clever – I think she was posing by a statue in a park in her pointe shoes. She does not have high hopes for getting accepted at Vassar but you never know, right?
Vassar: “We will be uploading decisions at the end of the business day on March 28th!”
Me: refreshes status constantly starting @ 8 AM
