I uploaded my photo for vassar but when I press view document, it looks really weird like I had my camera set on negative. Anyone else encounter the same problem.

I don’t have an answer to your problem but I haven’t been able to upload anything despite having formatted my picture correctly about 15 times now.

Is it a jpeg? That’s the only format that would make mine under the 500kb limit.

Also, what kind of photo are you sending? I used a senior portrait, but only because it was the most professional looking thing. I was tempted to do something a lot more creative/individualized… But it felt kind of risky.

Mine uploaded fine (so for the record, thats not a normal thing through the common app)

As for the picture: i uploaded a picture of myself with my metal detector, covered in all the stuff i’ve dug up–my essay was about metal detecting.

It’s just one of me in a suit… Would the size have affected the quality?? I mean, its not as if I’m uploading a picture directly…

Have you tried just messing with it? Paste the original into paint, then open that file in word–see what happens. Or Microsoft Office Picture Manager–export it to large document size (just make sure to save at as something diff. from the original)

Personally I wouldnt submit a school portrait, i dont think the admissions board cares what you really look, it’s not a beauty contest. If i could redo my pic i would include the one of me dancing at a scottish ceilidh.

Maybe someone will disagree with me, but i assume they want a photo that says something, not just a nice picture.

I’m 90% positive that you have to submit your picture as a .doc. Like, paste your picture into a Word document, then upload that doc! And yeah, samisbond, it’s more about putting a face to an application, giving you and your whole app package character. So a photograph of you involved in an activity would be best. :)
