Hi! I’m currently a freshman at a large research university and I’m not really enjoying it and I just found out Vassar accepts spring transfers and I’d like to get out of my school basically as soon as I can. I applied to Vassar last fall as a freshman student and was waitlisted. How does this affect me if I reapply? Is it good or bad and what kinds of insights should I be gleaning from it?
Also some miscellaneous things, how is Vassar’s lgbt community, it’s super liberal right, and how is the theatre program/experience there?
Some schools don’t accept transfer applications within one year of originally applying but Vassar does not have a rule like this so I don’t think having previously applied will play a role in your admission decision. If anything it will show how dedicated you are to the school. Vassar has a pretty big lgbtq community compared to the size of the school. I don’t think I’ve met one student that does not support the community. I know the lgbtq center has many events and some specifically for first-year students. Yes, Vassar is extremely liberal socially and in terms of policy. I’m not involved with the theatre myself but I’ve only heard good things from friends.
Theater totally rocks at Vassar. Hamilton, for example, was started at Wesleyan but was polished in part at Vassar. They have nice facilities and have produced major talent. I want to also echo the lgbt community. It’s integrated into the life. People are very accepting.
@Dustyfeathers and @mrolic thank you so much for your responses! Are either of you students there?I really do like the school and your responses are a nice reminder of that Thanks again and have a nice day!
