Vassar Transfer

Hey guys, I'm a sophomore currently studying at the University of Pittsburgh. For a number of reason, both academic and social, I am looking to transfer to a much smaller liberal arts school. I'm very hopeful of transferring to Vassar as it seems the perfect fit for me. I was wondering what my chances are based on these qualifications:

High school:
GPA: 3.6 (unweighted)
Class rank: Not disclosed, so I'm not sure.
All honors classes with 5 AP's
4 years each of english, history, science, and math
4 years of foreign language (latin)
4 years of orchestra
4 years on the volleyball team
3 years writing for the school paper
3 years in the school's branch of Amnesty International

SAT's:
Best cumulative SAT score: 2010
Reading: 700
Math: 570
Writing: 740
SAT II Literature: 730
SAT II US History: 710

College:
I currently have a 3.8 GPA at the University of Pittsburgh. I expect my GPA at the time of my transfer to be about 3.75.
I really have no extracurricular activities here because the student body is of a size and make-up that there is virtually no sense of community, and have found that I don't really fit in anywhere. This is a big part of the reason I want to transfer.
Also, I'm a male (which I understand can have an impact when applying to Vassar).

Thanks guys!

I’m a sophomore that goes to Pitt as well and I’m also trying to transfer out. I totally understand what you mean about there being no sense of community. There is just about no school spirit, I mean seriously, you see people here wearing Penn State shirts. Also I kind of hate how the campus doesn’t really feel like a campus, unless you’re on upper campus. It kind of just feels like a downtown, which just kind of irritates me. The difference is that I’m trying to transfer to Michigan, which is an even larger school.

Anyways, I think you have a pretty good shot at Vassar. Your college stats look pretty good and I don’t think, if you’re trying to get in as a junior transfer, that your high school stats matter. You should probably try to get involved in some EC activities to help your chances though. Good luck!

I’ll most likely also apply to Vassar and I’m also a dude. I’m not sure how much that will help us, though. They certainly accepted a higher percentage of men last year, but take a look at the CDS for past years: [Common Data Set - Institutional Research - Vassar College](<a href=“Institutional Research – Vassar College”>Institutional Research – Vassar College)
