Vassar Transfer

I also posted this in "What are my chances?", but I wanted to get some input specifically from people who attend Vassar, or are a bit more familiar with their admissions.

Hey guys, I'm a sophomore currently studying at the University of Pittsburgh. For a number of reason, both academic and social, I am looking to transfer to a much smaller liberal arts school. I'm very hopeful of transferring to Vassar as it seems the perfect fit for me. I was wondering what my chances are based on these qualifications:

High school:
GPA: 3.6 (unweighted)
Class rank: Not disclosed, so I'm not sure.
All honors classes with 5 AP's
4 years each of english, history, science, and math
4 years of foreign language (latin)
4 years of orchestra
4 years on the volleyball team
3 years writing for the school paper
3 years in the school's branch of Amnesty International

SAT's:
Best cumulative SAT score: 2010
Reading: 700
Math: 570
Writing: 740
SAT II Literature: 730
SAT II US History: 710

College:
I currently have a 3.8 GPA at the University of Pittsburgh. I expect my GPA at the time of my transfer to be about 3.75.
I really have no extracurricular activities here because the student body is of a size and make-up that there is virtually no sense of community, and have found that I don't really fit in anywhere. This is a big part of the reason I want to transfer.
Also, I'm a male (which I understand can have an impact when applying to Vassar).

Thanks guys!

Best of Luck! I am in a similar situation too. I am freshman at Rutgers University. I do not like the experiece of a big university that much. I find it difficult to develop lasting friendships since I rarely see the same person twice. And the people whom I talk to are just acquaintances, not really friends. Overall I do not think that I fit in well at all. I much prefer a smaller, more intimate environment.
By the way, Have you applied to Vassar before.

I’m a freshman who’s also considering Vassar. I’m worried about how the need-aware policy might have an effect on my chances of being admitted, however. I think my stats would align otherwise, but I’d need a lot of FA, and I’m wondering if it’s worth it to even apply. What do you guys think? Or is it a non-issue for you?

I am applying for financial aid as well, but I do not necessarily need a lot of aid. I honestly did not know that Vassar was need aware for transfers, which is unfair because Vassar is need-blind for first year students. If you like Vassar and don’t really like the institution you’re at, then why not apply? Also did you apply to Vassar as a high school senior?

i’m hoping to transfer into vassar in the fall. just curious, did anybody gain acceptance for the spring or have they not told anybody yet? if they have and you’re in, what are your stats like? (and congrats!)
