Is there any state in this nation that form a large percentage of students at Vassar? Or is there a high number from say, the southeast or northwest? Or do the admissions officers attempt to make it equal, and only accept a certain number per region?

From what I’ve heard/seen, the majority of students come from the northeast. I don’t really think location affects the admission decision too much, but if you’re one of the two people who are applying from Oklahoma, you’ve probably got a better shot than the hundreds of kids applying from New York. That said, if you’re good enough to get in, you’re good enough to get in … no matter where you’re from.
I’m applying ED, so I am by no means an expert, but this is the vibe I picked up from the open house/website.

Thanks. I’m applying ED too, and when I visited the campus, I met the woman who said she was the admissions officer for my area. So, I asked her how many applications she reads from New England, and she replied, “New England? That’s way too much. I’m assigned to just Eastern Massachusetts.” I had no idea that many people from my half of the state apply to Vassar (hopefully not many applied ED).

Wow, that’s crazy!! Let’s hope that location can’t be used against us, it can only help. The next few weeks are going to go by so slowly, I can already feel it. The anticipation is killing me! lol

Remember the numbers below are enrolled students. This list has not changed much in the recent years I have been watching it.

From: [Vassar College || Statistics](http://admissions.vassar.edu/about_statistics.html)

In descending order, the top U.S. feeder states for the class of 2013 are New York (155), California (71), Massachusetts (48), New Jersey (38), Pennsylvania (35), Connecticut (31), Maryland (19), Florida (15), Oregon (15), Illinois (14), Minnesota (13), Texas (13), and Washington (12).

arose4emily, i’m from northeast mass :o

Reppin’ Nevada. Heyooo.

Massachusetts people ways stay around the Northeast US, which sucks because we’re all competing with each other. Hopefully there aren’t many MA ED applicants. Or maybe I’ll move to Alaska or Wyoming, somewhere where no one is applying from.

Where from MA, may I ask, imsolidmatter? I’m fresh off the Mayflower in America’s Hometown. C;

haha I’m from a suburb right outside Boston! : )

Vassar can never have too many Mass holes! Cambridge, 2012. Hope to see you guys around next year!
