presidential here also !!!!!!
we find out abt GMed in 3rd week of march

when did u apply the scholarship? i thought we have to write more essays

nope, they use the essay you wrote for the honors college

I got presidential too and was really surprised. :)

no no. there is no essay for honors college. when you applied to vcu regular, you had the option of writing another essay to be considered for scholarships.

the honors college may have sent you another packet for applying to additional schoarships, but the main one is presidential dean or provost.

now, who were you all interviewed by: at (1) honors college and (2) SoM
???

and are most of you indians ?? (indian american)

i just received the presidential scholarship today. but also, a couple weeks back, vcu sent me a packet that stated that if i wanted to be considered for these merit scholarships, i had to send in a couple essays by march 23. however, since they already sent me the highest scholarship possible, is it still necessary for me to complete and return the essays?

well we dont have to but it would be helpful. the honors college would give us scholarships for like summer programs, study abroad programs, etc etc.

congrats to the ppl above me...! anyone hear if they got into the bsmd program yet...?

still two more weeks..........i can't wait !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to hear back from this.

I have a question... does the VCU program require MCATs?
thanks =]

No, the VCU program does not require MCATs. But if you want to apply to a different medical school at the end of 4 years, you do have to take them. Hope that helps!

oh thanks! i'm definitely going to apply next year then.

i heard the vcu SoM started sending acceptance emails- is this true?
I havent gotten one yet.

I haven't gotten one yet and I found out I got the presidential :)

too bad getting a scholarship does not necessarily mean acceptance from SOM.
someone said that 45 ppl were accepted last yr? is that true? seems kinda high number to me.

last year it indeed was 45- but this year they will cut it down to 33-35.
- getting a presidential is not 100% guarantee but a good chance for the program since the same person sits on both commities.

why are they cutting it down this year?

because they estimate that they will have more med school students for the SoM class of 2015 so they need to balance it out.
