Verification of Non-Filing

I am at a bit of a confusion..
I have filled out my FAFSA about 2 months ago, and one of the documents that are needed by my CC is a Verification of Non Filing. I went ahead and made an account on the IRS website several days ago, to search for the letter, but it kept giving me an error despite it showing an asterisk. I used the alternative methods including having the letter of non filing sent by mail, and that option was not available also. I found the form 4506-T and 4506T-EZ online, but now I have a question.. My parents filed their taxes jointly, but I did NOT file taxes this year.. By providing my parents information on one of those forms, how would the IRS know that I did not file taxes?

The school is asking for YOUR verification of non-filing, not your parents’ (since they filed). If you were looking for a verification of non-filing for you, you would use your own social security number. There have been issues with the IRS website lately - you are not the only student experiencing this. Does your school want an actual verification from the IRS, or do they have a Non-Filer form you can complete? Call and ask.

Precisely, and that is why I am a bit confused, the forms that are available from the IRS ask for the information of those who have filed taxes, but only my parent’s have . The community college that I go to doesn’t have a Non-Filer form of their own, they are looking for verification directly from the IRS. I even went to the local IRS office in my city, and they were unable to help me.
