My D has been an IPhone user since they first came out and is reluctant to give it up; however, her calls are ALWAYS getting dropped. It's been SO frustrating to try and talk to her this year. We just tried to talk to one another and our call was dropped 6 separate times within a three minute period. Aaaagh!!! This has been the norm this entire year with our AT&T service. So, for those of you who have Verizon, how's the service in CVille? Are any of your calls dropped? Also, if ANYONE knows ANYTHING about the differences in IPhones between these two companies and the rates for their respective IPhone, I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts.

As a family we all have Verizon. My D is @ UVA and about 20-25% of the time when we are talking, the call will be broken up but not dropped. She usually tells me that she will call back later when she is in a better spot. I have no idea where she is when this happens. Also have a S @ W&M and the same thing happens when I’m speaking with him. He has told me there is a certain spot on campus that has bad reception.

with Verizon, depends where you are calling. Inside Alderman has interference but not outside. No problems at Cooch or areas just off grounds.

Has Verizon officially come to Charlottesville, or is it still extended network?

jc, we use Verizon with very few problems. I can’t recall ever having a dropped call (knock on wood). The biggest problem we’ve had is that she’ll call while walking and the roar of the buses will occasionally drown her out.

I have Verizon. Two years ago it was roaming, but they HAVE official come to Charlottesville, and they’ve installed cell repeaters in lots of the buildings (including all of the first year dorms, if I recall correctly, along with other places like Newcomb Hall). Since the network stopped being roaming, I’ve never had a dropped call or anything like that on-grounds.

We have verizon at UVa, works great. No dropped calls.

One disadvantage with iPhone on Verizon is that you won’t be able to stream data and make calls at the same time (unlike ATT). Also, I know that the iPhone as a device is prone to less than stellar call quality and calls being dropped. It might be an equipment issue. (Not to say that any equipment issues may or may not be exacerbated by the network/ATT). I use the iPhone on ATT and have only dropped a call once or twice, but I also live in a less data-consumption heavy area than the cities where this is a bigger issue.

You will likely be most advantaged to wait and see reviews on iPhone reliability after several weeks being released into the market.

wahoo, though that is a disadvantage, the feature is not really used that often anyways. If your going to get the new Verizon Iphone, I would wait till June when the new one is released.

I use it a lot!! However, it’s particularly to refer to emails people send me while I am on the go so that we can discuss then and there. It may or may not be an issue depending on your use of the phone.

That was an interesting review wahoo. I’m not going to lie, the Iphone is beyond amazing.
