So I was admitted to NYU ED 1 but did not receive a Financial Aid award package. I called the financial aid office this past monday and they said they did not have a certain item, which prevented them from pulling up my CSS profile. So when I called them on monday, I gave them the credentials they needed. The financial aid office told me that they will have my award package ready "by the end of the week or the latest next monday or tuesday." I still have yet to receive a package and the week is over (for the financial aif office). I can't call monday because they are on a Winter Recess until next year. Who should I call???? I have to respond to the offer but I want to do so after I look at my financial aid award package. I know this was a long post with just a simple question, but I wanted to give the every information I can give.

Please help~~

Offices are closed, so you have to wait until they reopen before you can get in touch with anyone there. You can still call and hope maybe someone that can help you is there, but with Christmas being in the middle of the week, you are highly unlikely to get anyone. You don’t have to worry about responding to the offer until after they reopen anyways, as there would be noone to get your response until then.

So the day the office opens, call and let them know that you cannot commit without the fin aid info. They will most likey give you an extension if there is a deadline and if they do not have the info ready.

I would call Monday anyway. Someone may be there. I would also send an email to my regional admissions officer. Their info is somewhere on the undergrad admissions pages. Let them know what has happened. I am guessing they check email over the holiday because they’re busy reviewing apps and you might get a reply. In any event, I wouldn’t worry too much because this is unavoidable, but I suppose if you are bumping into a deadline you could accept and then send an email saying you’ve accepted but it’s contingent upon receiving your award pkg which you have yet to receive. That way, if you have to decline it later, you’ve covered yourself in terms if the acceptance deadline. In any event, stay in written contact with admissions so you have covered yourself in terms of meeting your deadlines

Do you guys think that Albert will be updated during the break? I was thinking that maybe the financial status change is automated…but who knows…

My daughter is a sophomore at NYU currently. Steinhardt sent a message to all its students regarding what services are available over the break. This is what they said about financial aid. (Thought it might help you.)

If you have an urgent financial aid concern, the Office of Financial Aid will be working remotely and responding to voicemail and email on December 23rd, 26th, 27th, 30th and 31st. Please call 212-998-4444 and listen to the message for instructions. Students may also send an e-mail message to financial.aid@nyu.edu. Please be aware that it may take a few business days to look into your concern and respond to the issue. Many general questions may be answered by viewing the StudentLink website www.nyu.edu/studentlink.
