VERY IMPORTANT SAT question

Do the Uc's look at the New SAT score as a whole or just at mainly the math and science..... heres why I care:

I didn't do All that great on my SAT's...except of course for writing
math:620
English:650
writing:750

If the colleges look at the total number than a 2020 is solid ( atleast for UCSD) However if colleges look at the math and science and not really care so much about the writing...or count writing as an SAT II, than my 2020 (1350) becomes a 1270!!!! which sucks........... Which is it????

No one knows for sure, but I am guessing that the UC's will look at it as a whole, as they requested that the SAT be changed. Because of this, I think they will value the writing section equally.

But who knows? =)

The UC's look as a whole because they used to require to SAT II writing and this just supplements it.

They'll certainly recognize that you got a good score on the writing. But I don't think it's going to be looked at as a whole, sorry.

(Don't hold me to that, just my opinion from what I've heard.)

Id' put my eggs in the same basket as stambliark41: The UC system is the reason the SAT changed. If they don't seriously look at Writing scores and use them as part of a composite score, who will? But it's all just speculation.

^ UC Regent Richard Atkinson was very very controversial. Not all of the Regents and Chancellors agreed with what he said. But he was the President and he pushed it through in a dictatorial fashion.

Even Regent Ward Connely in his support of the ban on affirmative action was disagreed with tremendously by other UC Chancellors. I don't expect things to change in the admissions criteria from last year or the previous 10-20 years.
