Very improtant question!need help here

I am sure most here had the same question:

I was going through Texas A&M's applications, and they specifically said that they will not accept any sort of scanned, notarized or any copies that are not original. But I would be needing those for my other applications plus I am from a third world country as well. What do I do here then?

I am not sure about the specifics of your situation.

In the US, documents are only considered official if the person concerned never touched them. For example, when a student needs an official transcript, the school would send a transcript directly to the recipient.

In some other countries, students get one or two original copies of their transcript. When they need a transcript for another recipient, they get a notarized copy of the original, with the school never involved again. Is that what’s common in your country?

Here’s what I did: I translated my transcripts into English and printed them out on a school letterhead. The vice principal signed them and put a school seal on them. All of the American colleges I applied to accepted them as official.

Barlum,thanks for replying.

The school which I am at,I am sure A&M won’t even contact them. Its just not possible(I am from Bangladesh btw).

We only got one official transcript, and that’s it.

Here is what’s happening:Currently I am in a US university, and I am trying to transfer to A&M.I have my original transcripts with me,and when I got in to my current university,I notarized the copies.Since its not possible for me to go back home,I have no choice but notarizing it.I could give away my college transcripts, but I am going to apply on other unis as well.

Let me make sure I get this straight: you are currently attending a US university and you are hoping to transfer to Texas A&M. Getting a transcript from your current university should not be a problem. However, you are struggling to get an official transcript from a school (I assume high school?) back in Bangladesh. Is that correct?

Let me ask you this: how did you get transcripts when you applied to college in the States in the first place? Could you work out an arrangement with your high school where you email or mail them the documents you need, they sign them, and then mail them to the universities you are hoping to transfer to? Maybe you have family back in Bangladesh who could help you with some of the legwork?

Barlum,Heres everything:

I have my original transcripts from school with me BUT when I got in to this university I used notarized copies and they accepted that. But in the case of A&M,they want original copies.I could give them all of that BUT I need those for my other university transfer applications.

that’s pretty much it.

I still don’t understand why you can’t get an “original” transcript from your high school. What’s the problem?

My high school could not give me another legally official transcript, but they could give me transcripts that are considered official by American colleges: all that was needed was a signature and school seal on a printout of my grades.

Have you talked to administrators at your school and they have told you that they absolutely cannot sign any document with your grades on it? If not, you really don’t have a problem yet.

I can get the original transcripts BUT who will bring them here?I am doing summer school plus reaching mail from there to here takes long. And they will do it or not is a big question as well.

But that’s not all.I took the O’Levels(Edexcel), and I don’t know whether they will give me another “extra” copy for my college.I haven’t heard of Edexcel giving extra copies.

The postal service? If you currently don’t have a mailing address, have them sent straight to TAMU. If time’s an issue, have them sent via express mail.

I have the impression that you are upset about TAMU’s policy on transcripts and you are trying to resist it in any way possible. Stop it. If you actually want to transfer, stop creating problems and start solving them. If you don’t want to transfer, stop wasting your time and ours.

I had a really long talk with the admissions counselor, and what hes telling me is to include another envelope inside so that they can send me the copies back.BUT there is no guarantee when they will send it.

^ Then I would hurry and get it to them as quickly as possible. Or maybe you have local family or friends who could assist. (Especially if time’s a concern: they could pick it up from the school and express mail it to you, which your school may not be willing to do.)
