I am having a lot of trouble choosing between Arizona State and the University of Arizona. I feel like I fit into both campuses well, but the only problem I have with ASU is the dorms. I plan on studying both biology and economics. Could someone give me some opinions on both schools? I am into honors at both schools as well, but how would you rate their honors versus regular programs? This is a tough choice for me to make.

Any suggestions?

Barretts is the best honors program in my opinion as it is more self contained and there is great mentoring, summer study abroad opportunities, better grad school acceptance rates, professors know you, they are building a new campus for it within 2 years and I agree dorms are not great but students seem OK with it. If you weren't going honors I would say U of A. It is a prettier campus, rated higher.

So to get into medical school I have the best shot at Barretts? Is there a specific building for the Barrett campus or is it just connected to sections of ASU? Is U of A a better overall college town? Lastly, how rigorous is Barretts? I am sorry for asking so many questions but I know that you are THE person to ask for help.

There is an honors campus at Barretts and yes they have something like a 95% acceptance rate to medical school. There is a courtyard of dorms in a quad with barbeque pits and a volleyball net. They have classrooms, an office and a 24 hr computer lab with tech support just for honors students. I heard the students are still very social in the honors dorms whereas U of A's honors dorms are very quiet and noone interacts. U of A is a prettier college town but ASU has Mills Ave and there are more cultural events, concerts, sports etc. I don't like how much concrete there is in Phoenix but there is tons to do. I would send my kids to Barretts over U of A honors any day, and I did a lot of research. My D has considered Barretts(She has good merit there) but is a liberal arts college type of student and also can't do her sport at either of the colleges. My friends D picked Brown over Barretts and regrets it as their is less stress at Barretts even though academics are good. You can still have a balanced life there.Let me know what you decide.

U of A is WAY better. Go Wildcats!
