very very low shameful SAT score

me in the same score line... 1720...just feeeeeel so shattered after knowing the result...

I improved my math score but my total score went down. When I found out Tuesday, I spent my first period class in the nurse puking my guts out. I still feel like crap :(

tinas...don't feel so bad... like everyone said: SAT doesn't mean EVERYTHING...

Several years ago a guy with 1200 (out of 1600) got into Harvard. Another guy with the same score got into the same Ivy school...same year I think...

So...don't stress out... There's always University of WA if you're going medical! I'm applying to UW for my safety and b/c I'm resident in WA^^ heh heh! In-state tuition fees!!! Woot!!

Plus, careers don't look at undergraduate schools - graduate schools! So, you can go to a crap college - like Evergreen IMO - and go to like Hopkins or UW, you're fine!

Good luck everyone with college decisions!

Its not about getting into JHU anymore. Its elevated into so many other things.

Just one example:

All my life I've felt like I didn't belong in advanced classes (when I placed in them) I grew up with people telling me I was going to fail. My 7th grade teacher LAUGHED in my face when I wanted to apply to a school for smart kids. My counselor 10th grade wouldn't let me be in the IB diploma (my aunt threatened to get county involved)

As a result, 11th and 12th, I feel like an outcast in my IB classes. Like I'm not smart enough and that I'll never succeed-that I'm in idiot, a fake.

But if I get into JHU, then its like "you're not a fake" and I can finally feel smart. Finally. If I don't get in, then all along I've been a fake and I don't belong in IB since I obviously don't emit rays of "potential" and "success" And the SATs showed that.

Thats why I'm so sick.

Ahh I see your problem.

So you are basically obsessed with what people think about you, or THEIR perception of YOUR life?

Frankly, you should never fall victim to such BS. There people like that in every school (yes I sit with them everyday in class, listening to them complaining about not being satisfied with a 99.5% grade...) Get over it. Just focus on your own stuff and who cares what "they think," since we all know that these guys are pretty much naively immature themselves.

Those don't justify the reasons for getting into JHU... Really!

I went to JHU Pre-College program in my sophomore year and people who were going there because it made them look "good" told me not to apply if I saw JHU as they had...

Unless you want to be a doctor or an engineer of some sort, JHU would not be an ideal option...

AND you're NOT a failure. I think the only reason why you "fail" is because you allow people to tell you that - sounds like a psychologist huh, but it's true...cliched but true!

Getting into JHU doesn't mean you're smart. Fact, I've seen bunch of idiots from JHU and they don't seem as smart. Pick a school that's for YOU not for others. Like I said, going to JHU doesn't make you any smarter than a guy going to Univ. of Idaho. It's what you make of yourself that makes you "smart."

...but good luck with JHU :)

**2400 on SATs DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE SMART. Look at George W. Bush, who went to Yale with 1200/1600 on his SATs...

GWB was the presidents son, of course he's going to get in.

Those aren't the ONLY reasons I'm applying to JHU. Oh I have many many more (actually because of the school). I had my reasons for applying to JHU and they kind of fused with other goals of mine.

I want to become a virologist, btw.

Good luck with your admissions :)

Remember, undergrad doesn't really count... grad school does and I think JHU Med accepts like 200 or 500 people per year...

Hey, JHU also has one of the best International Studies program in the country! In fact, international studies is the MOST popular major on campus.
