Victoria College - accepted without a supplementary essay?!

I got accepted into Victoria College at University of Toronto a few days ago. I'm quite surprised because I applied on a whim, all I did was fill the forms and send all my SAT and TOEFL scores. Victoria College, my #1 college, asked for a 2000-word supplementary essay but I didn't write it at all because I couldn't be bothered with (well, I was already accepted into one of my top choices in the UK by then) but I still got accepted into Victoria. I'm not a very bright student; my SAT scores were okay (four subject tests at 700+), my GPA in the first two years is terrible, although my 11th and 12th grade averages are outstanding. I'm wondering if Victoria is known for accepting students without a supplementary essay, because, as far as I know, it's the second most oversubscribed college at UofT.

Ontario universities don’t look at grade 9 and 10 marks, just 11 and 12. If your grades are outstanding, Victoria (and Trinity) will accept you before the supplements are marked.

Victoria likes international students and the resulting diversity.
