So I'm pretty much your average high school student with pretty average grades, planning on going to a pretty average college (either Michigan State or Iowa State at the moment), and I was wondering, for someone who's interested in going into engineering, is it a good idea to bring video game systems along when you go? Don't get me wrong here, studies and social life would definitely come first, but with the increased work load of college (especially engineering), do you think I would have time to still play video games? I'm not talking anything major here, but just a little Call of Duty, Need For Speed, Gran Turismo, etc. every once in awhile... Something to do when there is nothing else going on basically.

So I need to know, good idea or no? Also, what do most other kids do in terms of video games?

Just bring them… game consoles don’t take up that much space and they aren’t that big… if you don’t have time, well, I guess it’ll just sit there and you can take it back whenever you go home. I didn’t bring any gaming systems, but I know a lot of people do find time to play them while balancing work and their social life.

Michigan State is a very good school. Don’t let CC get you down.

Also, bring them if you like, but don’t let them inhibit you from exploring opportunities and experiences around you.

You don’t sound very confident. You should start doing things to increase your confidence, starting with removing the “average” qualifier before everything describing yourself.

I’d say to go ahead and bring it along with you, its always nice to have if you want to kill a couple hours after homework and dont really feel like doing any more reading. also, it could give you and your roommate, or floormate something to do together thats doesnt cost any extra money if the weather is crappy. and like everyone else said, as long as you balance your school and social life its all good. again, as others mentioned, you can always take it home if you find that you dont use it and want to free up some space
