Please share your perception of how #1 Regional North Villanova ranks in general compared to National #47 U Miami and #79 American U. Better, same, worse?

when in doubt, look at 25/75 SAT, % students in top 10% of graduating HS class, and to a lesser degre, % acceptance.

Using those, Villanova is about at the level of Miami/Tulane/GW, a little higher than Fordham/SMU/BU, and much higher than American. However, it really depends on department/major. Some schools are better in sciences, some in humanities, some in pre-professional, etc.

I’m not sure why Villanova is classified as a Regional, but if it were classified as a National Uni my guess is it would be ranked around #50.

I wouldn’t say Villanova is much higher than American. I think American is at the same level as Fordham, BU, and SMU.

dunnin, i believe the explanation was a lack of PHDs offered and other graduate programs. i would also compare the 25/75 scores though

Thank you all for the analysis! Very helpful.
