Does anyone have experience or opinions regarding housing for upperclassmen at Villanova? I know that freshman are pretty much guaranteed housing, but what about later years? I’ve heard it can be very difficult (from someone who doesn’t attend). I don’t know whether or not to believe this. Villanova is my junior S’s first choice right now, but I am concerned about his ability to get housing year after year. Thanks
I do not have a child attending Villanova but he has applied for admission for the Fall. We did visit the campus and were told that they are breaking ground on additional housing for upperclassman in sept. 2016. The housing will not be completed until 2019. Meaning the class of 2020 will be the first class to have it available. They are trying to return most of the off campus upperclassman back to campus. So, if it happens than I do not think housing will be an issue.
@pkchamp Thank you. I visited but no one mentioned new buildings. Very helpful.
You have. Guaranteed housing for 3 years… Fourth year is when people move out and find nearby apartments which really isn’t that bad. They are building new apartments for fourth years.
Freshman year housing is in south campus.
Sophomore year housing is in main campus
Junior year housing is in West Campus apartments.
Thank you @MrInformed
Just an update…Villanova has begun construction on the new housing/parking garage. I’m sure it will be great for the upperclassman in a couple of years when it’s completed.
Great news @pkchamp89 Hopefully there will be some money left over for financial aid! :))
@stem2017 I agree!! Just a couple of weeks until decisions. Crazy.
Confirming MrInformed: currently guaranteed housing for three years. In fact, sophomores can lottery into the West campus apartments if all rooms are not assigned to juniors (my son lived at West campus for soph & junior years). In the past there have been plenty of off-campus opportunities for rental housing and I liked the fact that my kid learned to live on his own senior year (son was class of 2014). But son has said that if the new housing had been available he would have opted to live on campus senior year – as long as there was a large population of seniors there.
@STEM2017 just wanted to follow up with some new information. My S was accepted to Villanova for the fall of 2016. He received some information about housing in his acceptance packet. Students are guaranteed housing for the first 3 years. The new upperclassmen housing scheduled for completion for the fall of 2019 will guarantee housing for about half of the senior class. It will be a lottery system. So, the remaining students will have to live off campus. Thought this may be helpful for you for next year as your son starts applying to colleges.
@pkchamp89 Very helpful thanks! In fact, we visited today and they confirmed the info you mentioned. Congratulations and best of luck to your son!
