Villanova's Bond Rating Raised to A+ by Standard and Poors

Villanova University: News & Events

And now for some good news.

Standard and Poors rates the bond ratings of universities. They recently raised Villanova's to A+. This is at a time when many colleges are seeing lower ratings because of debt, etc.

Standard and Poors specifically noted the increased selectivity of Villanova's admissions, as well as a high rate of retention of current students. That demand provides a comfort level to investors, because it shows there will always be a plentiful supply of interested students. A high bond rating results in lower borrowing costs.

They also noted the University's conservative debt structure. In comparison, some other colleges were lured into high risk interest rate swap deals that have cost them many millions.

Interesting. Hopefully this means more financial aid opportunities for future students.
