Virginia Tech Transfer 2013

I took calc, lab science, and english sooo yeah…

What does that even mean? Did your classes at your school actually transfer over to Tech? It may be that a lot of them didn’t.

Not all of them transferred but they dont evaluate if your credits transfer or not until they accept you aka the hokie bird, they never even evaluated my credits

If you took all the appropriate classes, got good grades, and were denied, you should call and ask why. All I can imagine is that you took the wrong type of calc and/or science.

Denied :frowning: oh well

Yeah ill def call, this sucksss

Denied with a 3.7 GPA :frowning: better luck next year I guess.

I think the problem was that your credits don’t transfer. They really care if most of your credits transfer.

I am looking for a female roommate for a 2 bedroom apartment if anyone is interested! I prefer Fox Ridge, The Village, or Terrace View!

I just got Accepted in to UVA Mcltrine School of Commerce so I am debating wethere or not to go to VT or UVA now.

I believe UVA is ranked higher than VT, so I would go with UVA. But at the same time, I’ve heard there are a lot of “snobs” at UVA.

I’m assuming my denial wasn’t because of my 3.8 gpa, what else could it have been?

It seems VT transfer decisions rely heavily on the classes you chose to take as opposed to a GPA.

I’ve heard the same. They seem to accept those who have the majority of their classes transferring. I am assuming they really want students to be right on track, not only in their selected major, but also with some of the required classes in other areas. For example, a student majoring in fine arts or business would probably have to have some of the general mathematics and science courses completed before acceptance to Tech. You should be able to contact them and find out the reason for your denial, especially with such an impressive GPA.

Is there any stories on people getting their acceptance rescinded?

yeah I spoke to admissions about it. they rescinded over 30 applications last year. anything less than a C for final transcripts then they’ll rescind it without question. if you have C’s they’re pretty light on them unless there are many.

What if your GPA still goes up? Even if you get below a C in one class

I would recommend talking to Christopher st Jean. he’s an assistant dean and can give you a clear answer specific to your application. the rules are pretty broad so I would call admissions and try to reach him over the phone.

Hey guys, I want to transfer for next fall and I want to know what you all think I can do improve on to increase my chances of getting in. Also is there an easier major to apply to? I have a 3.15 from vcu and am applying as a business management major. I had an awesome internship last summer and tech is my dream school. Tips, suggestions?
