@almrls I’m a freshman applying for Business. Mine was pretty low… 3.133 for the fall semester due to a C in MTH166 which is precalc w/trig (5cr).
But I had all A’s for Spring mid-semester grades and hopefully will finish the semester with those grades. The lady who asked me for them said that an A in applied calc is what they look for in competitive business students so I’m hoping that saved me but I’m still nervous because of the C i got in MTH166

I had a great GPA (only A’s and B’s for 2 years) but I got a D in math last semester…
So I got a 3.4+ with that D. Currently I am taking my last 4 classes and got all A’s in all including the math class I am retaking.

So hopefully I will be fine because I think I got all the correct classes with 57 credits.

I don’t think they just ask you for midterm grades just because you have a low GPA, they can also ask if you got less than a C.

@Almrls
I applied with a 3.4 as a IT business major
I just sent my midterm which is two As two Bs and one C+ in calculus business

Judging from all your replies so far (much appreciated), I believe @Turkish93 is right. Assuming the threshold is a 3.5 GPA, if you are under that, they’ll want your midterm grades. If you got a C or worse in any math or career courses, they’ll want your midterm grades.

Yeah I’ve held up about a 3.4. What really broight it down was my C in physics 201 course last semester. I’m a math major.

Hey guys,
I was accepted early march and I never sent in my HS transcripts because I had like 2.1-2.3 So don’t worry about sending in your HS Transcript. It’s not needed since I clearly got in (:

Best of luck!

@Almrls im a second year at nvcc with a 4.0 and they asked for my midterm grades too

@Tech123 Well there goes my theory. Any idea as to why they might have wanted them?

Most of you probably know that for transfer students the #1 thing they care about is taking the correct courses for the intended major. Maybe they still asked to see if Tech123 is taking a certain class that they want.

I am great at making stuff out of nowhere :)

@Turkish93 Maybe not making sure Tech123 is taking a certain class, because you are supposed to declare planned classes in your application, but perhaps making sure a class that they prefer to have been taken earlier is going well?

It’s probably because tech123 is a 2nd year cc student and they want to see if he will be able to complete the guaranteed agreement.

@Coleworld123 But I am also a 2nd year cc student, with a lower 3.74 GPA, still within the guaranteed admission agreement conditions, and I was not asked to submit midterm grades.

Hey guys, just wanted to ask a question: does anyone know if your grades get’s rolled over to VT if you do transfer? I got in and will probably be attending. However, it would suck to have my slate wiped clean for my remaining two years - junior year in engineering tends to be rough, and I’ve built up enough A’s at NVCC that it’d really help keep the pressure off in terms of grades. Obviously I’d expect them to recalculate it based on different course credits.

Unfortunately, only credits transfer.

@Coleworld123 Really? That really, really blows. This is going to make next year really rough - I’d been hoping I could use my good grades at community college to give me some breathing room and let me work on research/design teams on top of work-study which will eat up what little free time I’ll have. I feel a lot less confident that I can actually pull this off now…

Well, whatever. Thanks for letting me know now!

@Garloque I know what you mean, but here is how I feel. NVCC didn’t really feel like a college to me. It felt more like high school since I was going to class and going back home to stay with parents. If I get accepted to Tech, I will be much more dedicated/motivated because it will actually feel like college in a college environment.

I think you will be fine.

@Almrls, what classes are you taking this semester?

@Turkish93 I’m taking EGR 206, 245, 246, 295, and MTH 291. Still gotta take ECO 202 and HIS 102 this summer to graduate.

@Garloque I think your GPA transfers, which is practically the same as grades.
