I was lucky enough to get accepted into both of my top 2 schools so now I need to decide whether to become a Hokie or an Orange so can anyone please help by listing some pros & cons.

Some quick Facts about me:
Live in New York specifically Long Island (Metropolitan Area)
Possibly planning on transferring into Industrial Design
Accepted into University Studies for VT
Applied into Undecided for Syracuse but was accepted into college Engineering???
Diversity is important to me
$6k merit aid from Syracuse

VT - High Murder/Suicide rate (presumably -_-)

I'm guessing that was supposed to be a joke and if it was it wasn't funny

im just saying, the shooting, the decapitation, scary stuff goin' down in Blacksburg >_>

Please go to Syracuse... :(

No more flying heads and mass killers.

I live in Virginia and know more about it so my opinion is probably biased but I know a LOT of people who go to VT and love it. It's very friendly and lovely there. Don't base your decision on the past. Those things could happen anywhere.

thx fpr the info also can anyone tell me about the campuses

just thought I'd mention this but school shootings can happen ANYWHERE, even Syracuse, Virginia Tech's just been really unlucky to get hit with all this negative publicity

^ Well the first one really set the tone for the rest. VT is still a top ranked school. I personally am just afraid to go there.

Syracuse did lose 35 students to a terrorist attack in 1988, so don't think that those kind of problems only exist at Va Tech.

Both schools are pretty different. Syracuse is a great school, good atmosphere and a beautiful campus. I've never been to Va Tech, so I can't really speak for it.

Especially since you are from NY, Va Tech.

I'd say Virginia Tech
try transferring into engineering in the spring semester or sophomore year
Syracuse is overrated especially for academics and in MY opinion deserves to be lower in the U.S. rankings
if you're looking for good academics go to Va Tech
if you're just looking for a good time go to 'Cuse

Syracuse is most definitely UNDERrated in the US News Rankings...the grad policy school (Maxwell) has been rated #1 in the US (over the Ivy league schools) for years now, and many undergraduate Maxwell courses are taught by the renowned Maxwell staff. I can tell you that as a freshman at SU, I was in a course (only 10 people in it), taught by one of the trustees for the U.S. Social Security Program. He spent half his time at SU, and the other half working in Washington. As a matter of fact, many foreign nations send their diplomats to Maxwell for training (there was a large Vietnamese delegation present when I was there). 'Cuse is definitely overlooked by a lot of people.

HOWEVER, Syracuse is not as strong as a school for engineering as Virginia Tech (actually the two shouldn't be compared in the same sentence for engineering haha)

Haha I'll give you that.
