Virginia Tech

Hello everyone, I was wondering on what my chances are of getting into Virginia Tech. Im currently a junior, where Im enrolled In AP-US History, Algebra II/Trig, a hard to get into 'honors' program called Authentic Science Research, AP- English Language, and Chemistry. By the time I graduate I would of taken, (in credits) 4 math (maybe 3 depending if I take advanced algebra next year), 8 Science's (including my authentic science program) with 2 credits of Science Lab (most science classes require everyother day you are in a science lab, so it is .5 credits a year) 4 years of English, 2 years of foreign language (Spanish), 6 credits of History/Social Sciences, and 2 credits of phi ed/gym. In regards to advanced classes I have take, ( not sure if Pre-AP classes count but Ill list them anyway) Pre-Ap World History, AP World History, AP-US History/Politics, Pre-AP English, AP English Language, and next year hopefully AP Biology, AP US Gov/Politics, and AP Literature. I have taken many extra classes in regards to history/social sciences and science. Now here comes the shaky part, my gpa will be around 3.4/3.5 (my bad math grades kill my gpa, however I got a 100 grade in World History and a 3 on the AP exam, and will hoepfully get a 95 grade in US history/gov, and around a 86 grade in AP English Language))by the time I apply in Nov. of 2014, but hopefully higher at the end of the 2014 school year, (my senior year) and my PSAT scores were 450 math, 590 reading, 540 writing, im working on getting them up at the moment. And for extra curricular, I am in the debate team (this year and hopefully next) chess club (this year and next year) I stay after school via a program called The Elton Brand Academy, where students can finish work and get help from teachers, I help tutor global history and US history students (this year and next), I dont do sports but I hike, hunt, and weight lift, I also plan to become a volunteer fire fighter this summer, and Im hopefully going to attend a pre college class this summer by the College of William and Mary (Pre-Collegiate summer program in Early American History) and hopefully the National Youth Leadership Forum: Careers in National Security, Diplomacy, Intelligence and Defense in September of 2014. Im also working on getting a letter of recommendation from a U.S. Senator.
Okay, sorry for all the writing but its alot to know, but now for the good part, what do you think my chances will be if I apply by Early Decision to Virginia Tech.
Best Wishes, :)

I also plan to enroll in the Corp of Cadets, and do Air Force ROTC.

VA Tech: Aim for 27+/1850+

I feel somewhat confident I can get a 1700, or atleast a 1600 on the sat’s. My math score is terrible, I plan tog get that to atleast a 500, and try getting reading and writing to 600 each. Would my 26 school credits, good letter of recommendation, decent extra curricular, and a good entry essay (im a very good and persuasive writer) give me good odds into getting in via Early Decision,(from what I know Early Decision acceptance rates go up alot compared to regular) I plan to double major in history and poly sci, and do the Corp of Cadets and AF Rotc, so maybe my good AP grades and test scores (im hoping for a 4 or 5 on AP His test) and I will take the SAT Subject test in US history so that should look very good too, will make up for my okay sat and gpa,

Bump–

Tech is mainly numbers based and they only really look at math+reading sat. Although that Major is not competitive at tech, your scores would be below the average. Their combined/1600 is like a 1300 if I’m not mistaken, probably a little lower. You didn’t mention your gpa/ percentage because it seems like your school goes by percentage, and it is pretty important to know it. Not to be rude or anything but tech really isn’t a political science school; maybe you should look at jmu/gmu,

Im sitting around a 86% but will be a 87 or 88 by the time I apply(math has demolished my gpa), I did look into JMU and GMU and they’re still on my radar, VT just offers Air Force Rotc and a amazing Crop of Cadet program.
