hey everyone, i just got some invitation for Rice's "vision 2005" in late february. it seems like a four day weekend preview type deal (attend classes, financial aid workshop, dinner with faculty) for "ethnically diverse students" and they even pay for travel expenses. my question is, would they invite me to something like this if they werent going to accept me. I mean the registration deadline is feb. 9, before the letters come in, so I am trying to figure out if this means i am in. im sure people wouldnt be happy if they committed to this and then get rejected.
also is anyone else going to this?

ooh yes!...thats awesome. i just registered and put my travel as flying and they said an email would be sent with travel confirmations and details. haha, hey id rather not drive...even though its only a 4 hour trip from san antonio :). im excited.
its good that i will get to see what rice is all about...maybe it will pull me away from MIT.

I signed up tonight to be a host for vision weekend (even though I'm not a minority :) ) Maybe I'll get to host one of you! Better clean my room!

haha omg i hope we all get one! :D yeah here's a quote from last year's thread:

Yes, it is a big deal to be invited. Rice only invites students who are apt to be admitted. I heard this today directly from a person who is high in the Rice administration.

Are only minority students invited? Just wondering because of where gospurs quoted "ethnically diverse". Do they also invite white applicants who are interested in diversity issues and such?

i think its only for minorities because the invite specified its for "ethnically diverse" students. in other words blacks, hispanics, native americans...
