We are planning a visit with our 2 junior daughters. I’m looking for contact info similar to what is available at Bama (where our son attends). With him, we were able to contact one person in the Honors College who set up an entire day of tours, faculty meetings, student reps, etc. Is there such a person at Auburn? One daughter is thinking she may major in Math and the other is undecided. Thanks for any information you can provide.
I don’t know if AU offers the same type personalized honors tour as UA offers (my son also took the UA personal honors tour and we were very impressed with the attention). He was invited to a Talons Honors event at AU in early spring and I think that convinced him Auburn would be his future home.
I’d contact the Honors College directly and ask them and if they don’t if they could put something together for you. Historically they have been capturing the higher academics in Alabama and have not made the marketing push UA has to solicit OOS high stats to raise their ranking. I think these 2 similar universities have 2 very different growth strategies. You will see AU does not offer the grand scholarships to OOS that UA does.
But, my OOS son wouldn’t go anywhere else.
If either is eligible for the Presidential Scholarship (32 ACT in state, I think 33 out?) they’ll offer to set up a Very Impressive Tiger tour for you that’s completely personalized, and a lot more impressive than the normal tours.

We toured both Alabama and Auburn and hands down Auburn was on point from the very beginning (the tour was not setup by the Honors college though). They were more organized and friendlier than we could have ever imagined. We are life long Alabama fans and always knew that’s where our son would go to school but once we stepped foot on campus at Auburn that all changed. The tour was beyond amazing, they have more traditions and superstitions than I ever dreamed possible but there wasn’t one person on campus that didn’t fall right into it. The tour was filled with story after story of traditions and rumors going back to the beginning of the college. Be prepared to say War Eagle to literally every human that passes you, that’s tradition too. The campus was so beautiful, we went in April and flowers were blooming along all the brick lined sidewalks and no cars/busses zooming past you or the walking paths like at Alabama. Again, lifelong Alabama fans but the feeling was “of course you’re going to come here, we’re Alabama”, even the receptionist at the desk when we checked in at Auburn made some sort of personal connection with us, it’s been an amazing experience so far. We left the Auburn tour that day saying “so I guess you’re going to Auburn, huh?”. Yep!
^^@blueroo66 - You did a great job saying what I have trouble putting into words. You just know you’re home when you walk on campus and the friendliest people I’ve ever met - even to strangers. My husband says Auburn brings out the nice in people - I believe it. My son is 2nd semester sophomore and still has the same excitement being on campus as he did during Camp War Eagle orientation. Welcome!
