<p>My Daughter and I are going on Wednesday night for War Eagle Day on Thursday-we are in state-I went to a small girl’s school- she is looking at some smaller liberal arts colleges and Auburn- any suggestions/ tips that we should know about- any ?'s to ask-I called and asked if we needed appt with honors college and they said they would be there during the browsing session.they don’t have appts on War Eagle Day- she made a 32 on ACT and is borderline 3.5 GPA- I’ve been told by rep that came to her HS that she should get a Founder’s scholarship- if she can keep the 3.5 -does it include room and board - we are staying at the Auburn hotel- and thought we would go to the Auburn Oyster Bar for dinner- where is a quick bite for breakfast nearby? I believe we have to be at Student Center at 7:45- where is it and is it in walking distance of hotel?</p>
<p>According to the website the Founder’s scholarship covers in-state tuition. Auburn also has many general scholarships and depending on her area of study, she might qualify for a departmental scholarship.</p>
<p>They have a really nice spread for breakfast in the student center. Wait to eat there. Honors college was well represented at one of the tables. 3 or 4 reps there and current students to talk to you. Great walking tour. Don’t step on the seal (you’ll find out why). Also great housing tour. We really enjoyed our tour and our daughter is definitely sold now. We live in Ga. Touring UGA with a similar setup (invitation only/honors college/one on one) at the end of the month.</p>
<p>Make sure to go have lemonade at Toomers Drugstore. We also stayed at the Auburn University Hotel. Very nice. loved being in the heart of the campus. We could walk to everything. </p>

<p>Regarding small liberal arts colleges. I graduated from one and can tell you that my education was great and that grad schools understood the quality. However, as I have changed jobs or moved over the years, no one has ever heard of the school. I know someone who has lived internationally - he told his kids to pick any public ACC or SEC school (they live in the Southeast) and people all over the world will have heard of the school. Interestingly, both of his kids chose Auburn. One was very interested in UNC-CH, but was out-of-state and, for many, Ivies are easier to get into.</p>
