Visit to Rhodes

Thank you for the PM, momofthree!

Fireflyscout, has your daughter narrowed down her choices much?

It's one of those one step forward, one step back things. She'll eliminate one, then add another. Fortunately, she's only considering 8 or so. She's also refined her career goals somewhat, and is now interested in foreign service/international relations. College mail and email are still fun, but we're kind of tired of hearing from Ohio State.

And isn't it fun having our own little corner of CC to chat?

Yes, fireflyscout, it is fun having this little corner to chat. International Relations/Studies is my d's area of interest, too, as well as political science and linguistics. I always feel like I should end that statement with "Of course she's just sixteen ... that might change 100 times." I've got to make D sit down and throw out some of the letters and pamphlets she's received from schools whose doorways she'll never darken. Don't you feel like you're drowning in a sea of college info? Of course, anytime anything from the state of Alabama arrives, she picks it up and tosses it immediately in the trash. That is 100% due to the rivalry between the Vols and the Crimson Tide. Neither she nor my husband can stand the song "Sweet Home Alabama" because it makes them think of the Alabama sports program. I wonder if it's not much like the Longhorns and Sooners. I hope you have a great weekend!

Wondering how son of three enjoyed the Bellingrath weekend ...

Splashmom - LOL, Alabama has been another heavy mailer. My favorite is one she just got from Smith, which offers a tote bag to "the first 100 who respond". What's next, college infomercials?

Hi fireflyscout! Love that son of three description!

Actually, my son is in FL right now for Spring Break, and will not get home till Friday, the day before the Rhodes weekend. He seems to be looking forward to it. Actually I think he is grateful to be doing something distracting now in these last week before RD letters go out.
I am letting him drive himself the five hour distance to Memphis from home, which will be a first. He's a very reliable driver, but you never know what will happen. In some ways that trip makes me more nervous than the scholarship interview itself! Thanks for asking!
