Visiting Brown during their Spring Break

Yup. Some colleges even loan out umbrellas (with the school logo/colors of course) for tours in the rain. You might get a tour of the inside of the buildings though, rather than seeing a whole lot of the campus.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll probably be doing some exploring by myself anyway. By the way, how long do tours usually last? I'm guessing around 2 hours, maybe?

I'm not sure, but the info session lasted about an hour, and I think the tour right after it lasted another hour.

Hehe my mom bought 4 Brown umbrellas after I got in. They're nice umbrellas, but I'm afraid I'd be tomatoed to death (corniness being my crime) if I ever used one.

It has been nearly a month since I visited Brown...maybe I should list what happened!

Sadly, upon visiting Brown, I decided that it really wasn't a school that was meant for me. My Brown trip began quite sourly, since when I exited the bus/entered Kennedy Plaza, I was greeted by quite a few policemen (with the shirts that said GANG-UNIT) arresting one or two gang members (I'm assuming they were gang members, they were wearing solid colors and were being arrested by the gang unit...).

Anyway, I made my way up college hill to the campus, which I thought was beautiful. East coast campuses really have a knack for green, wonderful campuses. However, I really didn't like how the college seemed to be plopped in the residential part of Providence, but once again, that's just me. After taking the tour, and attending the info session (where the man speaking stressed the fact that, "you must decide if Brown is the right school for you") I wandered around the campus. I think it was then I decided that Brown wasn't right for me. The academics seemed awesome (that was my main draw point to Brown), but I just didn't feel right on the campus. I love urban campuses A LOT (I loved UPenn, and Columbia...they seemed to just be in the middle of the city), but Brown seemed to be a bit suburban.

I'm glad I did that trip though, because if I had applied ED...I would not have known what I got myself into! For all the Juniors thinking they know where to apply ED, please (try to) visit the campus before you make that decision!
