I’m going to be visiting Brown by myself on Monday, and I’m going to be arriving several hours before the information session starts. What can I do on campus in the downtime without getting in anyone’s way?
Walk down Thayer street. It isn’t that long but you can stop in a cafe for a coffee or have a slice of Pizza at Antonio’s before you go and it is pretty much all students around. And Pembroke dorms are up there past the Brown campus
A few ideas: You could check out athletic facilities on Hope Street, if that is an interest: Pizzitola, Meehan Auditorium, OMAC and Nelson Fitness. They would probably let you in to take a peek. Or go to the Blue Room and have coffee and watch the students go by. Depending on what time it is, I think you might even be able to eat in one of the dining halls, not sure what the fee is. Thayer Street is nice, but you are probably more interested in seeing the campus than the stores on Thayer Street. Also, depending which campus tour you take, you might not see the science buildings, so might want to check out Barrus-Holley and MacMillan. You can wander the campus, check out the quad, Pembroke, Keeney Quad, and the open spaces in the Wayland arch area and Patriot’s Court. I doubt you’d be in the way anywhere. It’s pretty chill.
You could call an academic dept you’re interested in, and ask what classes meet on Monday and ask if you could possibly sit in.
Also, you could see if there is anything on the event calender that is of interest.

For sure. Everyone there is pretty friendly.
Talk to students. Find them in the cafeteria, in the Fitness Center, Andrews, bookstore. Brown students love to talk up Brown. While in the bookstore, look at the books for classes you might want to take.
Heads up: There’s bad weather expected for Monday. Another snowstorm.
@fireandrain ; Thanks for the warning. My parents forced me to stay home because of the weather, but I’m heartbroken. Maybe another time—though my schedule is so busy I have no idea when I’ll be able to make the trip if not today.
It would’ve been a pretty miserable day to visit. I was surprised Brown didn’t cancel classes, since all the other local colleges did, as well as the Providence public schools.
