Just curious - for those who attended the Visiting Day (with or without overnight stay) - what was your (and/or your son or daughter’s) experience? And what is their feeling about Haverford after attending (more or less likely to commit)?
My daughter and I visited this past Friday. She is an accepted student and wanted to talk to someone in their history department and met with the orchestra director. We also sat in on an “Intro to Quantum Mechanics” class. That was fun, the professor was very good and the kids in the class seemed very engaged.
Overall, campus was quite busy with a ton of people taking tours. D has not decided on a school yet and I think she is leaning towards Haverford. Money was an issue, but we think it’s actually affordable for us based on their financial aid package and crunching the numbers.
She is still considering Carleton and St. Olaf’s. Time is running out.
@AMW1963 - My daughter didn’t attend Visiting Day, but she did participate in Have-A-Look, which is their diversity fly-in program. She had already done the campus tour and info session, and Haverford had been on her list prior to the fly-in program, but it was just one of many top LACs she was considering–no different from Middlebury, Wesleyan, Carleton, Vassar, etc. After the diversity fly-in program, she was totally sold on Haverford. I think it takes hanging out with other students to “get” what makes the honor code so significant.
