I will be a freshman at LSA this fall, and I had a couple questions about visiting campus and orientation I was hoping someone could answer. I live only a couple hours from Ann Arbor, and have spent a lot of time there since I was little, and have toured the campus formally twice. I got mail from U of M advertising Campus Days, but I've heard these are a lot like the tours I did earlier. I also got mail about the Next Steps program, but this just seemed like a meet-and-greet. I was wondering if these events are worth attending, and what your opinion of them are? I'm obviously going to orientation, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me what that process is like. Thanks.

I went to campus day and it was a good way to spend a Saturday morning. That’s all I can really say. Yes, it was a lot like the tours, but the Housing presentation and the LSA presentation were well worth it.

Housing presentation was my favorite part. If it’s not a hassle, I would go. Campus Day is meant for admitted students, and as a result instead of spending half the time on SAT/GPA crap they talk about what you actually want to hear. Also instead of just walking around the outside of campus and to a fake dorm room right next to the entrance of South Quad you see a real sophomore’s dorm at Stockwell and eat lunch at Markley.

A lot of the information you get to is to introduce you what the process will be like this summer in regards to all the stuff that you have to do.

Oh an I have to add the LSA presentation was excellent too. Extremely entertaining and it introduces you to what to expect from the classroom environment really well.

I went last month, and the Housing presentation was worth the whole trip. That guy was hysterical.

Thanks. I think I’ll go to a Campus Day. Might as well. Has anyone gone to a Next Step Reception or maybe orientation a previous year?
