Visiting - restaurant recommendation

My D and I will be visiting Miami next week. I would like a restaurant recommendation. Nothing fancy. Looking for a restaurant that the college kids go to. Good food, not a dive, decent prices. I like for her to be able to see herself going there with her friends. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Probably our favorite is the 45 East Bar & Grill on High Street. A nicer
casual atmosphere. We have always received good food/service. One
time they thought it took too long to bring out our food so dinner was
on them ( wasn’t really that long ). The Brick Street Bar across the street
is also casual with good food, and a nice patio in warm weather. My daughter
also likes Fiesta Charra for Mexican.

A little higher scale we enjoyed was the Kona Bistro, and Stella’s. Also
good Japanese/Sushi at Sushi Nara.

For a quick bite, the Bagel & Deli shop is good. Good coffee at Kofenya
Coffee.

Not for dinner, but you MUST get a bagel from Bagel &Deli. It’s a Miami tradition and the bagels are delicious. You don’t sit down there, you just take it and go. Enjoy!

Yes, not the bagel shop for dinner. Just happened to think of it of a neat place to
stop in, with uniquely named sandwiches. The others for dinner.

Not sure of the name or if it’s the same place others are talking about, since it was a sit down place, but on the end of town furthest away from campus, on the left side as you drive or walk away from campus, there was a small unprepossing place, possibly painted green, that had great breakfasts, and very nice people. We still talk about it when visiting other schools and trying to decide where to stop.

You may be thinking of the Morning Sun Cafe and Bakery. It is in the
location you are referring to. My husband mentioned it after I posted
yesterday. We ate there for dinner one night during Family Weekend
last year. I believe they are now serving dinner on a regular basis.
Dinner was booked at Stella’s that night and we were referred to
The Morning Sun. The owners of Stella’s also own Morning Sun. Yes,
it is rather small, and nothing fancy at all, rather like a diner inside.
The food was a much higher quality than you would find at a diner,
more similar to the dinner at Stella’s. We didn’t eat breakfast there,
but appeared to be a great place to do so.

Patterson’s is GREAT for breakfast, but get there early, or you’ll have to wait in line. I got there later once and had a burger instead of breakfast. It was one of the best I ever had. Great-fresh everything! Thursday evenings they do Thanksgiving dinner. I never tried it, but I would bet on it being good.

Kona Bistro is very good. Steinkeller is a fun “authentic” German pub and restaurant; it’s hard too find on High Street as it is at a lower level from the street. Look on the left as you leave campus. It is near Juniper, a cute boutique. For Italian, Pasano’s, on Campus Ave. is good.

45 East is a good place for specialty sandwiches and dinners. I didn’t love their Italian, but I am used to good NE OH Italian! So maybe I am spoiled!

My son and I had sushi at Sushi Nara. It was wonderful and the restaurant was full of students. I think I was the only parent there at the time. :)

Thanks for all of the suggestions, I’ll check them out!
