visiting U of Pitts

not really

Just one tip before you go, achang. Make sure you call it "Pitt." Nobody calls it "U of Pitts."

^Fobs do, actually.

I just got back from pitt and i'm pretty much in love with it. the pathfinders were awesome!!! and all the staffs are very helpful. the so u wanna be pharmacy program is very organized!! but I was tiny tiny tiny tiny disappointed in their campus environment. It's a bit different than how I imagined it would be. not that many greenspot. some part of the campus is on the upper section which I didn't get a chance to check out. I went on the city bus tour and then the walking tour. although I wish I have gone on the upper campus tour instead of the city bus tour. but overall, i'd say pitt looks great! and now it's time to get my SAT score up!

Hey achang, did you also check out Duquesne while you were here?

achang, upper campus is where most of the athletic facilities are (Petersen Events Center [the Pete], the pool, basketball courts, indoor tennis courts, etc.) And you probably didn't get to go through Schenley Park at all. It borders campus on west and south, and is one of the largest in-city parks in the country. It has a golf course, pool, tennis courts, 1/4 mile track, baseball fields, basketball courts, a skating rink, and tons of trails and open areas. They also show movies at night and have outdoor concerts. Tons of students hang out at Schenley when they need some greenery.

yeah I should have chosen the upper campus tour instead of the city bus tour. but the city bus drove us to umm I forgot the name, it's like way up there and u can see most of the city from the top. it's pretty. it also drove us around the schenley park, but it was a quick tour.

Mt. Washington? The view is awesome!

achang1990

don't worry about not going to the upper campus. when we were there, we drove through the upper campus. as Pittpnthr said its mostly the athletic complex facilities.

also there are many buildings associated with the medical college. The one thing you should know is that some of the newer dorms are located in the upper campus. while they are nicer than the towers for instance, the downside is that once you come down to the main camous for classes, you really won't want to go back up the hill during the day (especially in the winter). living in the towers affords you much greater comvenience. your near the academic buildings and your dorm.

The gym is located in the peterson center ( the large basketball arena). we went in and it was very nice. If you are into working out, I believe that there is a small gym in the towers as well.

I think the city bus tour is important to take (we did this as well instead of the upper camous tour) because the city of pittsburgh is a big reason why students want to go to college there. It is good to see what the city was like. The one thing about the city tour that i thought they should do, but didn't was take the bus over to the "southside". we dorve through there and there were many restaurants and bars. it seemed like a cool place to go if you go to college there.

good luck.

^Yeah, you are on the ball here. Upper campus boasts of much better dorms and food. There is a shuttle that takes you up at regular intervals, so if you are lazy, that is an option.

The Southside is a great place to do stuff. Good stores and restaurants there.

Go to the campus programs- I just came back from a Getting Ready program- it's great!
