D20 and I are thinking of taking Amtrak from Boston to visit the school. Any advice on logistics would be greatly appreciated, especially options for getting around locally (other than Uber. )
I’d suggest renting a car. Car rentals are readily available at the Wilmington Amtrak station.
There’s a train stop (SEPTA) within walking distance from the campus… actually ON the campus (I live right down the street). Also, if you’re going to take Amtrak, I’d recommend taking it into Penn Station and taking the Mega Bus to campus (they run several times a day). That one puts you right ON campus - near residential buildings and such. Also walking distance from a Mariott hotel (also ON campus). Save your car rental $$$ to enjoy dinner on Main Street… walking distance again from campus. Of course there’s Uber a plenty in the area, but why pay, when you can walk?

FYI the Septa that’s ON campus is across from the Carpenter Center and Sports Complex… (I think that’s called North Campus?) which is a bit of a walk from the main campus. The Mega bus stop in on Main Campus.
