Does UNC have a day where admitted students can visit and spend the night with a current student? If not, what other touring options are available to get a better view of the campus?

go to your online account at admissions.unc.edu and then click on visiting or tour link on the left.

From what I understand, you can request to be paired with a student through the "Be a Carolina Student for a Day" program found at Tar Heel Blog Welcome

The University doesn't pair or sanction the overnight component but I've heard it's an option.

Stay close to campus like the Franklin or carolina inn...where you can mingle with the students if you can't find a spot staying with a student. Everyone is leaving tomorrow for spring break I guess you know that?

Can you visit campus while the students are on spring break?

I'm just bumping this. I'm visiting UNC tomorrow through tuesday. Can I still visit even though the students are on spring break?

I don't know if the visitor's center will be open. You might want to get their number off web site, call and see if there is a message regarding spring break. Dorms look like they are closed over break. You can certainly walk around campus (even if they are not giving tours)--download a map from website. You can explore the town. The campus will most probably be pretty empty of students.

Checking the website, it appears that UNC does have tours scheduled next week. If you want to take a guided tour and haven't done so, you might want to call the admissions office and let them know you are coming. Unfortunately, without the students there it will be hard to get a real sense of the "feel" of the university, which is not nearly so vibrant without the students.

Thanks for your replies. I've already visited previously when students were present and taken an guided tour. I'm just really interested in walking around and checking out the surrounding area, so I guess I'm in the clear. Thanks again!
